Forums - Sony Discussion - Sucker Punch's new PS4 game pushing for 'jaw-dropping visuals'

If it's a new IP I'm excited, Sucker Punch is one of the few Sony studios that I like.

As long as it's better than SS, go right ahead.

Too bad they're not focusing on good gameplay.

Infamous Second Son was more of the same. I hope they go back to cartoony games.

What are you basing that off of?  The fact that they didn't talk about gameplay in a job posting for a Senior Character Texture/Look Dev Artist?

Infamous Second Son. Gorgeous graphics, but gameplay wise it was more of the same as the previous entries. Not a masterpiece by any stretch of the imagination (not a bad game either though).

So based on inFamous SS your saying they are not focusing on gameplay on their next game...wow.

Anyway that logic makes no sense, games don't have to reinvent themselves with every sequel to have good gameplay, some other games that have been more of the game gameplay wise include SSB, Mario, Uncharted, Halo, Batman, etc.

More visuals talk, this is getting ridiculous. I figured sony gaming studious would have learned by now. I long for the playstation gaming I grew up with and enjoyed.

I know right? It really grinds my gears when developers talk about visuals in a job listing intended to look for someone with experience with visuals.

Yeah, no. SMG2 and SM3DW is a huge difference. Just like Sunshine and SMG are a lot different.
SSB is a fighting game, it can't change all that much. Arkham Knight seems to be adding a lot of new things like the Batmobile. The last Batman Arkham game got blasted by critics because it didn't do anything new.

You don't change for the sake of change. "If it ain't broken, don't fix it". Infamous: Second Son's greatest flaws weren't related to gameplay, but rather content (the lack of diverse side-missions) and presentation (pretty empty world).

So Batman gets a pass just from it adding the batmobile, but inFamous adds new powers and new side activities and changes as much as it can while still being an inFamous game, but it gets no credit...okay.

Infamous 2nd son is still one of the best looking PS4 games, especially during the night with the neon power in use.

I personally thought inFamous:SS's gameplay was fantastic ^^ It took what worked in the previous entries, and fixed what didn't (such as city traversal, which was completely overhauled for all 4 powers). The thing that let SS down for me was the lack of interesting side content, and how barren the city got once you'd cleared out the D.U.P.

I think they should have skipped one of the powers and used that time to create more custom and randomly generated content. Better yet (though this might just be me), have a single power that expanded/changed as you absorbed others. There really wasn't enough physical content to justify 4 separate power trees.
