Xenoblade is a motion control game. And you complain about my logic. Mhm.

Since the download of a smartphone game app will already allow to begin investing in the new Nintendo ecosystem, it will be easier to entice people to make the move to dedicated hardware because they already have an NNID and can potentially reap benefits in software for dedicated hardware along the lines of what amiibo offers. What I mean by this is that a Mario game for dedicated hardware would recognize save data from a smartphone game that is tied to the same NNID and unlock non-essential bonuses like what amiibos do in a game like Kirby and the Rainbow Curse.

I can see that being possible, another thing I could see happening is their smartphone games/apps tying into the new membership/rewards program. Iwata hinted at the more games u buy the cheaper they become and perhaps doing a referral program as well.

Let's say u download the free-to-play Pokémon Shuffle game on ur Phone/Tablet, now u get 5% off of Pokémon Z. Also, u invite ur friends to play with u, 10 friends accept and start playing, now u get an additional 20% off Pokémon Z. Now Pokémon Z only costs $30 instead of $40.

This is good for the consumer because u get games cheaper without spending anything and it's good for Nintendo because it increases their potential customer base and increases digital sales which have a higher profit margin than retail games even when taking into account up to 25% discounts.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Why? The DS sold more than any gameboy before

Brand recognition is not even half as important as people think it is.

And tbh if people are not smart enough to understand "Nintendo" then I am happy to not have them be part of my gaming community. The less dumb people no matter the group   be it  chirch  or sports team or school or gaming community  the better for the smart ones.
