Forums - Gaming Discussion - Games killed due to poor distribution.

Tagged games:

So I've been looking for some rare DS games (without having to pay a fortune for them) and I just realised that, despite this games being really good and having great reviews, sold really bad and nobody knows about them. Which games do you think were killed due to poor distribution?

When I say killed, I say titles that had the potencial to sell really well, but for some reason they weren't advertised or made avalible to the general public, and because of that, noone knows they even exist. Just because is a niche title doesn't mean it counts, those games are expected to sell poorly and they make a profit despite that, and games that were vindicated by history years later don't count either, they gain a ton of popularity through time and a re-release is usually more succesful than the first one (just look at Persona 4 Golden).

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I think we're lucky that Xenoblade, despite everything going against it, was able to do as well as it did.

Wow, this thread was buried due to poor distribution, lol.

LOL

Anyways, Xenoblade Chronicles, and The Last Story come to mind.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

The Last Story wasn't advertised well at all, but in NA I wouldn't say it had poor distribution in the technical sense.

The game was available at major retailers like Walmart, Bestbuy, Amazon, GameStop and EB Games Canada.

The publisher in NA, XSeed, even said that The Last Story was their best selling game to date at that time.

Though if Nintendo published and handled the advertising for the game themselves it would have had a larger initial print and likely would have sold more in the end.

Metroid Prime Trilogy and Xenoblade. Also Pikmin 3, Nintendo would rather stop production of the game than give it a price cut.
