Forums - Gaming Discussion - ms 1st party go ps4, confirmed by crazy coincidence?? (Star Wars references)

Anyone else notice that the xbox empire is kinda like the star wars movie's titular faction?

In the first outing (episode 4) it's characterized by a very large "technological terror" (xbox) that is defeated by the "old world" knights (traditional core) personified in the fledgling rebellion (ps2) composed of hundreds of species (eclectic library and developers). Vader kills the wise old master (Sega) in a large-scale battle (too many consoles), Luke (Sony) sees massive growth and gains lots of new friends. Using the ideals of previous greats, he challenges the Empire and blows their ship (xbox) out of the water, thanks to a design flaw, (lacking library)

Then, in the second (episode 5) the empire gets a huge head start by destroying the base on Hoth (1 year early release), cripples the rebellion, who are forced to change tactics. Then, a new character personified in the wise and old yoda (nintendo), gives the Luke (Sony) lessons in how to be amazing (mass appeal). Luke then tries to use these new ideas to defeat the renewed Empire, (Move, streaming, trophies, mainstream) but the Empire, through Darth Vader, shows he's still better (kinect, sports, tv features, resolution). Vader cuts off Luke's hand, while the friends of the main characters stab them in the back (squeenix, and other exclusive to multiplats), and Han and the others are captured for money (exclusives)

Now, we would be in the final chapter (episode 6). Luke shows up out of nowhere looking much stronger than before. He comes to Jabba's palace (fanboys?) dressed in all black where everyone is like "hahaha, yeah right, you're shit". Then Luke kills everyone and takes back his friends (Third party exclusives, like so far, NIS and FROM SOFTWARE).
The rest of the way it should play out is that Yoda, the old sage (Nintendo personified with WiiU) dies midway, and the rebels move in for the kill. They are helped by thousands of little furry guys (valve) to deflect the Empire's attention and they succeed in lowering the defense of the Empire's NEW "gigantic machine" (slimmer than the first one) named the same thing as the orignal Death Star.  Eventually, the fleet, co-helmed by the backstabber (squeenix) moves in to attack the Empire. There is a trap (xb1 slim? Pricecut? Halo?) and it does a lot of damage (recover a lot of sales), but in the end the death star is again destroyed, along with the Emperor and Vader (MS pulls out of console gaming), but then joins our hero after the ceremony as a ghost (ms starts porting to ps4?)

So, MS games on ps4 confirmed?

Hmm, the Rebellion was bigger than the Empire in the beginning? (PS1 Sales were huge)

Well, the rebellion is just an extension of the the alliance of worlds. The peacekeepers etc. The rebellion is actually composed of thousands of different species, so one would assume also thousands of planets. (it's a stretch)

Also, you say that Vader (Xbox) killed Obi-Wan (Sega), but it was more so Sony that killed Sega, Sega was pretty much already dead when Xbox entered the market. Xbox was the successor to Dreamcast if anything. The rest of your analogy works ok though, up until the part where MS games come to PS4

That's episodes 1-3, where the Jedi order was everywhere and the republic trived, while basically only Sidious and its several aprentices were alone trying to destroy it.

Also, obi-wan was on his last legs too when he gives up to vader. But remember he says he'll come back, which he does in multiplat form. Vader didn't really kill obi, he just finished him off. Obi was already done. But yeah I agree, this part is a stretch too.

Hey, you never know what ms will do. :D

Actually, one of the lesser known facts is that MS was mainly responsible for the death of Dreamcast when they pretty much killed SegaNet after Sega outsourced it through them. There's more to it than that, that I'll have to look up, but there's a reason why the original XBox and it's original controller looked almost identical to the Dreamcast design. MS had a much bigger hand than most people know. Sony simply had the more appealing console that consumers wanted more.

It's my understanding that MS and Sega were in talks to partner up and have Xbox be backwards compatible with Dreamcast, but those talks fell apart after Sega's President died. The partnership conntinued on in some form though, with several Sega games being exclusive to the original Xbox. Sega of America President Peter Moore listed the PS2 as the ultimate cause of Dreamcast's demise:

"We had a tremendous 18 months. Dreamcast was on fire – we really thought that we could do it. But then we had a target from Japan that said we had to make x hundreds of millions of dollars by the holiday season and shift x millions of units of hardware, otherwise we just couldn't sustain the business. So on January 31st, 2001, we said Sega is leaving hardware. We were selling 50,000 units a day, then 60,000, then 100,000, but it was just not going to be enough to get the critical mass to take on the launch of PS2. Somehow I got to make that call, not the Japanese. I had to fire a lot of people; it was not a pleasant day."[5]

It all makes sense now. Someone within MS killed Sega's president. It is confirmed by the prophecy

Now I want to see the sequels to see how the console war ends.

Lol, that was funny.

It's not supposed to be funny! It's mindblowing! You have now seen the future. Do with this power what you will.

SEGA was doing badly sales wise but I think they saw Xbox as taking any remaining market they could have captured.  There just wasn't going to be room for them in the future and they couldn't outspend MS (also they were woefully managed for years which put them in that position in the first place)
