Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Phill Spencer has a passion for gaming and Don Mattricks Didnt

If Don Mattricks was still xbox lead.  Xbox would be in a pile of shit . Good thing Phil and Ken Lobb are making a recovery

i think most people use don as a scapegoat, they hung the initial message around his neck like a used toilet seat.
the company as a whole are responsibile for the initial message, Don just bore the brunt of it because of his position.

I still see basically the same attitude as before he got there as far as content goes. They just have a different PR message now and of course they weren't going to get away with that initial design. If they would have listened to that "loud small number of people on the internet" from the start (the year of rumors that generated so much backlash) they would never have gone so far astray.

Yeah. It's not like he single-handedly designed the console.

I wouldn't give the credit to Phil though. We as a gaming community played a bigger role than some of us realize by just voicing our frustrations. Phil most likely saw this and ran away with the mindset that gamers want a person who understands them well. This isn't to say I don't like Phil, because I do, but had Phil acted this way, then Don could have been the new head if the roles were reversed during that time.

Let's wait and see how this turns out over the next two years before jumping to conclusions lol

agreed. and people tend to forget that phil still had a pretty big role in the xbox division, he was a part of the DRM and "power of the cloud" movement. MS has done a great job as painting him as the "nice guy" and the guy who loves "gaming" after Don left. its all PR, just like with Shu and Cerny.

It is true because before don the X360 had a ton of exclusives in all regions but Don choose the way of making profit and used Kinect for it.

Under Peter Moore the Xbox brand was even better off imo
