Yeah, in many states you're suppose to technically report any untaxed online expenses, but most people don't do it. As long as there isn't a facility in your state you can buy products without a sales tax. For example, only in California, New York, New Jersey, and Tenessee are there automatic sales taxes on products purchased on Newegg.com.  Having said that, public education comes primarily from property taxes in most states, so the sales tax may or may not affect the expenditure per child (although the U.S has an efficiency problem, poor results despite spending way more per child than other countries, mostly caused by diverse demographics in my opinion.)
