Heya everyone, it`s Cloudman again with another thread. This time I wanted to talk about something usually present in the RPG genre, mostly JRPGs and Tactics games, the Job System!
Now if you`ve played any RPGs or Tactics games, such as Final Fantasy Tactics, Fire Emblem, Bravely Default, Tactics Ogre, Ogre Battle, or even the unual Fantasy Life, chances are you are quite familiar with the job system.
For those who don`t know about the job system or never played a game with them, it`s a range of different classes you can pick for your characters, whether they are main characters or created characters. They range from the basic warrior, mage, theif, and cleric. But there are more branched out classes such as ninja, summoner, performer, red mage, blue mage, knight, and so on. These classes can differ widely from game to game. And you can usually flip through classes on the fly. No extra costs needed! Sweet, right???
So yeah, there can be a lot of classes. Maybe even too much to pick from, which can lead to you making a huge party to cover each one, or you have to painstakingly pick a few out of the vast ring of classes.

Too... Many... JOBS!!! @_@
So with so many different jobs, everyone`s got a favorite or two, right? What`s yours?
For as long as I can remember, for some reason, I always prefered classes that are proficient with the sword, but not like the standard warrior or the heavily armored knight. I`m talking about the Swordmaster class : ) This class comes in different names depending on the game. They usually go under the names `fencer`, `myrmidon`, `swordmaster`, and `trueblade`. These guys/gals fight with only a sword and light armor, if they wear any at all. They can`t take a lot of hits and going into the battlefield with little to no armor seems foolish, but what they lack in defence, they make up in speed and power. In some games, they even have higher critical rates than other units, which makes for some satisfying critical attacks. : )

You have to admit, that does look pretty awesome... : )
They may not be so noble and honorable, like the knight, or have destructive magical power like the mage, but they have the grace, acrobatics, and speed to quickly take down their foes, with swordplay that is like watching a dance, the dance of death... >: ) So yeah, in games with job systems, the one job I will always have, whether in larger numbers or when I can make my own character in the game, is the Swordmaster. There`s nothing better than shiftly slicing your foes into pieces with your lightning speed, coming and going without making so much of a sound like the wind... Maybe my like of these swordsmen had something to do with a certain frail, kind, goofy, girly looking character. Maybe you have heard of him. He`s no big deal, right...?

So yeah, thanks for reading. : ) Go ahead and write about your favorite class or 2 in games. It`s alright if they`re not from RPGs. I know some non RPG games do have RPG elements in them, and non-traditional classes are fine too. Don`t be shy to say your fav class is the carpenter or the fisherman. I won`t judge. ; )
