That's my point.  The new 3DS launch was big along with monster hunter and MM. This is an incredible feat by the ps4. 


3DS is cheaper, has some new must have games and new launch. PS4 on the other hand is twice as expensvie and exclusive game got panned by critics. But I have to say both did well.

I honestly didn't think the ps4 could pull this off considering the new model for the 3ds.  It's the equivalent of a ps4 slim.  Ps4 is still at launch price after two xmas's which makes this even more impressive. 

Most consoles are down from their predecessors. Doesn't make them any less successful or impressive. The market has changed a lot since the DS reigned supreme, and all things considered, the 3DS is a beast. It's going to be the second best selling gaming system this gen. 

The PS4 is in its second year. The 3DS is in its fifth. The New 3DS just launched in February, yet you're comparing the data from two months and saying you're surprised the PS4 beat the 3DS in spite of the new model...that just launched. This is extremely skewed in order to favor the PS4 and this thread only exists to downplay the 3DS' win in the NPD. No offense, but this is extremely gratuitous. 


The 3DS is out in America for less than 4 years.  The ps4 is out for less than 2. The 3DS had MM which was huge plus monster hunter.  It also had a new model that sold really well.  This is quite the achievement from the ps4. Remember its still at launch price.

I don't take any joy from it.  However the ps4 deserves more credit than its curcurrently getting.

Monster hunter highly rated pretty much equalled the orders sales.  MM apparently one of the best games ever sold a shit load.  TLOUR moved a lot of ps4s and it's a re release.  

 

The 3DS had a new model.  Yes only 2 weeks but months of pre orders are included.  It's also twice as cheap and the ps4 is still at launch price.  

 

This is one hell of an achievement and definitely worth mentioning.

Yes both did very well.  I fully back that idea.

but seriously though, Sony fans are giving it plenty of credit. It's just that most of the comments on here thus far have been from Nintendo fans, it's pretty easy to see why they would be less enthusiastic about the PS4s sucess. Nothing against Nintendo, or it's fans of course.

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Either way, that's a huge difference. You're comparing a handheld that's past its peak to a console that likely hasn't peaked yet. How do you not see the flaw in that?

Yeah, it had a remake of the least popular 3D Zelda of all time and a game that is entirely niche in the west. Meanwhile the PS4 had a huge, mainstream shooter that appeals to its audience quite well. I'm not saying it's not an achievement that the PS4 is selling so well, but your attempts to downplay the 3DS are futile and appear to be out of spite. You can praise Sony and the PS4 without putting the 3DS down.
