I would love to see another but MS closed down Ensemble Studios, the RTS genre in general has been in a steep decline since 2009, there are only 2 RTS games this year from what I can see, grey Goo released and was lacklusture with the online community for that game dying off after 2 weeks from release, Homeworld remastered collection seems to be doing ok but it;s not breaking any records, it;s the same game with a graphical overhaul and UI with redone cinematics but everything else is the same.

Last year there was Planetary Annihilation and that reached "release" status but it wasn't really fully feature complete and it didn't really get out there as much, I own the game and still play it now and then but it still has a way to go, still full of bugs and needs more polish, Homeworld RC seems to bye the only RTS besides Grey Goo that looks fun and has polish with less bugs.

RTS is my most favourite of all genres but I just can't see it coming back in full swing like in the 90's unless more people get into making new RTS games and really market the crap out of them, don't make them over complicated but not way too easy and too simle in design, we definitely need more RTS games like C&C/Starcraft/Age of Empires etc though, turn based strataegy games along with strat games that have less focus on C&C are popular but they aren't the core of RTS and I feel there's a lack of balance at the moment within the genre, the sub genres seem more alive than the core.

I feel shooters,RPG and turn based games have taken the limelight for the past 5-6 years, I also find RTS games tend to and have always sold more on PC since it's one of PC's mainstay genres.

What's that supposed to mean?

Probably not sadly, it doesn't seem they are going to make a new AoE either which is quite a larger series so I think AoM is out of the question.

You're breaking my heart!

Sorry Kerotan but this is the way it has to be . But at least we got AoM and AoE HD on Steam so the original games still have quite a bit of life left in them.

There are more RTS games on PC, the genre started on PC and RTS games in general tend to play better on Keyboard and mouse, it's just how it is and always has been, there were a couple on last gen like C&C red alert 3, C&C3,Kanes Wrath, BFMEII and Halo wars, Halo wars was the last console only RTS game Esemble made and they got killed off by MS afterwards because it didn't sell well (along with trying to make an MMO which is also what killed KOA studio).

My original you quoted was because you included consoles in your op, given the history of RTS games and how they came to be, they won't get noticed or thrive heavily on a console like they would on the PC, there's hardly any RTS console only gamers asking for RTS games to come to their platform.

I'm not asking for it on consoles.  I want it for my pc where I've played every rts I've ever owned.  Rts is a pc focused genre so your statement was obvious to say the least.  Obviously consoles are not gonna do much for this genre but if you read other people's posts in here and I suspect you know this already,  the genre is dying on pc too.  They're doing bad everywhere sadly meaning the chances of one of my favourite pc games getting a sequel is slim to none.  I'm truly devastated.  The HD version will be bought from a steam sale though so at least there's that.

Maybe they could make a Ryse type game but in the Age of Mythology universe as that would be suited to a PC and Console release. But I really just want an RTS like the first?

yeah that's a completely different suggestion. so i meant a game like ryse. aka not an RTS but in the same universe. That sort of game would sell better on consoles. i take it you misunderstood what i was saying.

I'm dying for an Age of Empires game :'(

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

I never got into them but I used to enjoy watching one of my friends play that one
