Hopefully npd shows ps4 doing better

january 2015 npd will be < january 2014 npd for the ps4

I find that difficult to believe

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

why?
january npd 2014 for ps4 was very high. 271k units

the demand was still high, because the console was very hard to get in december 2013
they got low returns from scaplers, because the ps4 easily sold for 600 bucks on ebay

all that benefits are gone this year
also the great deals this holiday. why buy a ps4 now for 399, if u could get one at 329 before christmas

Its common sense though.

  • In 2014 january-march we were still full swing in the PS4 launch frenzy. In February the PS4 even launched in Japan.
  • its over a year from launch, the PS4 is still at $400, so why should it sell more any week/month now than the lowest it sold per holiday last year at the same price?
  • so, just take the lowest numbers the PS4 pushed at $400 last year, average them and you will get a baseline; that's the exact same amount of consoles the PS4 should be selling each week through out this year with exception to new software boosts or the price is dropped or China launch week.

It rare that a console sold worst in it's second full year then it's first

Second full year? its only going to be selling worse for as long as it takes Sony to drop the price. Its not going to sell worse than its first unless Sony doesn't drop the price. Look at it this way, if the monthly average is lower than the monthly average for the first 8-10 months of this year compared to last year, then that is as good a confirmation as you could get that their will be a price drop announced.

Well i will wait npd

Will give you a lot trouble needing to update your table not only for weekly but also all the adjustments. Please include graph as well.

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

Will be interesting to see
