anouma hasnt made a bad zelda game yet(well there was skyward sword but that was still a great game compared to most games-93 on metacritic)

so I think it will be good

Thank you so far to everyone who has posted predictions.
I will update this thread with each game's official first week totals(counting non simultaneous releases of course).
So May will be when we will have our first total first week number for game(Splatoon).

1.Zelda U - 770K
Zelda is traditionally not as popular as Mario games sales wise. Skyward Sword did a little over a million in the first week with a massive install base on the Wii.

2. Xenoblade Chronicles X - 190K
These predictions are nuts - I know there's a lot of hype but it's a JRPG people! I'd be SHOCKED if it approached 300K on the first week

3. Star Fox - 300K
I have NO CLUE how this will do. 300 is a wild guess

4. Splatoon - 115K
Video game nerds like ourselves have heard of it - everyone else has no idea what Splatoon is.

5. Yoshi Wholly World - 140K

zelda u is one of the most hyped games of 2015 and its not just nintendo fans hyping it up

its pratically all fanbases

xenoblade chronicles x is being revered by final fantasy developers and practically everyone this game is 1 of the 2 games people will buy a wii u for this year

While I believe that X can arguably be the best JRPG to come out this decade it is simply not Final Fantasy..nor even Dragon Quest in name recognition to the general public. It will sell well but more in a Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze kinda way. It'll slowly get to a million, but not right out.

This is a RPG on a Nintendo console. Let's look at the RPG history on the Wii

  • Monster Hunter Tri, 2.21 mil lifetime - 561K in Week 1 - a massive franchice with a huge install base
  • Xenoblade Chornicles, 800K lifetime
  • Last Story, 630K lifetime
  • Murumasa, 590K lifetime
  • Pandoras Tower, 300K lifetime

The game will be a critical darling but just won't see a massive week 1.

Zelda games are ALWAYS hyped up in a way where EVERYONE will talk about the game. Major console releases come out infrequently yet they never hit those Mario numbers.

Twilight Princess was a huge deal, being the first Wii release. That sold 715K over the first two weeks.

And just over 1 mil for Skyward Sword which was late in the Wii life cycle (meaning the attach rate was far less).

I hope I'm wrong on both! But history seems pretty consistent - take it from me I'm a Senior Business Analyst for a living.
