Forums - General Discussion - IT SNOWED TODAY!!! GLOBAL WARMING DISPROVED

Global warming is happening. This year things got a bit cooler, but we are definitely on an upward trend. It will take more than a year to reverse that.

Now the question is, what is the cause of global warming? Yes, an increase in CO2 levels should theoretically cause the Earth to warm, however, we have no conclusive evidence as to what effect the current levels of CO2 are having, and how much would be need to significantly alter the Earth's temperature. We honestly have no idea. All we know is that the Earth is warming up. However, the Earth's temperature has fluctuated all over the place for the past ~4.6 billion years, so for all we know, the Earth is just doing it's thing.

I don't see why the human race should suddenly cut back on everything and anything simply because there is a POSSIBILITY that we may be causing the Earth's temperature to rise. Should we take better care of the environment, and not waste resources left and right? Yes. However, we shouldn't just stop living. Chances are, whatever we cut back will have little to no effect on the end result. The Earth is the Earth. It's not going to let some puny humans bitch it around.

Even without global warming, a big conversion over to alternative fuels like biodeasel or hydrogen needs to be made. Fossil fuels don't replenish quick enough to keep up with us...we're running out of gas. Sure, there is plenty of it to last past a few generations....but relative to the time frame of earth, we're going to run out fairly quickly. We need to be switching over to more renewable resources.

 I agree.

Snow days in Texas suck. People flip the hell out and driving just sucks. The fiancee is snowed in at her work so they're buying her dinner and putting her up in a hotel tonight so I have to stay home alone. ;_;

Do you people seriously know WTF global warming is? Its not how you think it is, its not ITS GOING TO GET OVERZ DAZ 200 DEGREEZZ!!

The ozone layer is weakening, and there will be much colder winters, and much warmer summers. Thats Global warming, not ITS HOT FOREVAZZ!!

I don't think Global Warming implies colder winters.

this doesnt disprove global warming, it just shows that climate change is happening.

Snow on a dessert......WOW I'm surprise!

Dallas isn't really in a desert area... although it certainly feels worse than the desert in the Summer. Ugh.. I'd never go back there again.

That's why the term climate change has come into favour, they've realised the predicted weather changes are going to be more complex than just warming.

I can understand people being a little skeptical of climate change, after all this branch of science is in it's infancy and there is much still to be learnt but to say that is flat out isn't happening at all and we shouldn't change anything or even scrutinise the issue is just plain ignorant.

The one thing that stands out to me in the climate change debate is that those saying it's happening actually have data and be it a rather heavily qualiftied description of what that means (refer to last years Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) However, those who are saying it's not happening rely on trying to discredit the others research rather than producing their own data.

The simple fact is that there is a large discrepancy in the amount of research being produced by both sides and i simply don't buy this argument of a global wide conspiracy to make people start researching and investing in new energy technologies.

Is this the first time that it snowed in March in texas?

And I thought global warming can also make places colder..

Mt. Baker Ski Area, 20 minutes away from my room mate's parents' house, received 1,140 inches of snow in the 98-99 season. That's 95 feet of snow! And a world record... But it's 2.5 hours from our current location.

Checkers Age and replayability > Halo Age and replayability

Therefore, Checkers > Halo

So, Checkers is a better game than Halo.
