Now the question is, what is the cause of global warming? Yes, an increase in CO2 levels should theoretically cause the Earth to warm, however, we have no conclusive evidence as to what effect the current levels of CO2 are having, and how much would be need to significantly alter the Earth's temperature. We honestly have no idea. All we know is that the Earth is warming up. However, the Earth's temperature has fluctuated all over the place for the past ~4.6 billion years, so for all we know, the Earth is just doing it's thing. I don't see why the human race should suddenly cut back on everything and anything simply because there is a POSSIBILITY that we may be causing the Earth's temperature to rise. Should we take better care of the environment, and not waste resources left and right? Yes. However, we shouldn't just stop living. Chances are, whatever we cut back will have little to no effect on the end result. The Earth is the Earth. It's not going to let some puny humans bitch it around. |
Even without global warming, a big conversion over to alternative fuels like biodeasel or hydrogen needs to be made. Fossil fuels don't replenish quick enough to keep up with us...we're running out of gas. Sure, there is plenty of it to last past a few generations....but relative to the time frame of earth, we're going to run out fairly quickly. We need to be switching over to more renewable resources.
