What's a hardcore gamer and what's a mature game?

A game like Dead Rising 3 is supposed to be mature and hardcore, but I find a game like Pikmin more mature in terms of plot and more hardcore in terms of gameplay mechanics. But, Dead Rising is the "mature" game and Pikmin the "childish" game. But I don't think about it when I play the games, I can play a game like Pikmin or a game like Dead Rising anytime. I'm not talking about the "ESRB maturity".

whatever a gamer chooses to define it as pretty much

Definitions vary depending on who you ask because no one will accept a definition that doesn't include them in either group.

A hardcore gamer would be the gamer that plays every type of gaming and just wonders about its qualities (gameplay, atmosphere, sound, etc. and, yes, graphics too). This would also be considered a "mature gamer" in my eyes.

But the way the industry's people see is different... for most of them, hardcore is just a gamer that plays 8h+ a week and just plays violent and mainstream games.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

STOP USING BLOQ MAYUS DAMMIT! BUT YEAH, I WOULD CHANGE THE TITLE BECAUSE IT'S AGAINST THE RULES!

There is no definitive way to define a hardcore gamer since every has their own interpretation. Mature games are probably easier to identify since I just go with the ERSB ratings.

Hardcore in terms of gaming has never been defined and is in my opinion worthless. Before the 7th gen i had never heard anyone seperate gaming as hardcore and casual, and to me it seems like everything on Wii was defined as casual and everything on PS3 and 360 was defined as hardcore. Basically the terms was used to talk negatively about Wii and positively about the other two.

Dead Rising? Mature?

The game about chopping zombies in half with a paddlesaw while being semi-naked wearing a Megaman hat?

"Mature gamers" good sir, no such thing exists, we're all children on the inside still.

I'm now filled with determination.

My definition:
play a game for a certain time, then stop playing it for a month.
And play again from where you stopped.
If you feel that you should start again, it is a hardcore game.
