Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Would it be possible for the Wii U to run Zelda U at 60fps?

After playing Metroid Prime Trilogy, I could not play the GameCube versions of MP1 and MP2 anymore. The motion controls made that much of a difference. Also, when it comes to FPS style controls (which the original MP games did not have), I feel that dual analog controls are restricting, clunky and outdated. Wii-style controls, if done right feel closer to PC FPS's.

I prefer 1080p30..

I prefer 4k 120hz  but as long as its Nintendo and their artstyle I am fine with 720p60 and I can deal with 720p30 as long as its not as much of a "cinematic experience" as some other GOTY winners that drop to 25 50% of the time  or even below 20....

i dont think wii u can handle that open world gameplay at 1080p nor 60 fps.720p 30 fps without dibs would be max what wii u can handle after all its not that big improment to PS3

The Wii U doesn't have the power to run a Zelda game at 1080p 60 fps, so forget it.

it's either 1080p30 or 720p60 , I think it will be 1080p30 because Zelda U uses the exact same technology Windwaker HD uses. 720p60 is used for racing, first person shooters, platformers. A big open world with colourful visuals like Zelda will use 1080p30, MARK MY WORDS ON THAT

Prime on the Wii doesn't apply to this conversation. 60fps wasn't programed in Prime with the Wiimote in mind.

And no, they don't "destroy any other imput method." The Wiimote was a joke. The only thing it added to prime was being able to look around freely, which would have been simple with dual analog controls.

lol, the wiimote is perfect for any game with an aim. there's no denying that.

If I could just interject, I'd like to point out that I've been playing Skyward Sword for the first time and I absolutely love using the Wiimote to aim with the different items like the bow, whip, clawshot, etc. It's so much more precise. The combat, however, isn't nearly as effective in this regard, but it's okay. Wiimotes are definitely useful under the right circumstances.

Nintendo always goes for 60fps over anything else

No, they don't. They have plenty of examples of games that run at 30fps, or less.

On Wii U?
-Mario 3d world
-Captain Toad
-Smash Bros
- Bayonetta 2
- DK Tropical Freeze
-SNMU/SNLU
- Mario Kart 8
- Nintendoland

... And Splatoon, Kirby and Yoshi are 60fps too, so there are... 2 games by Nintendo at 30fps? Plenty of exemples...

thank you.

Possible, but likely won't happen

Thanks for all the great memories!

Its unclear to me why 60 FPS would matter in a game of this type. It's not a game that depends heavily on twitch responses like a racing game or Smash Bros. I'd argue that the system resources are better spent on realizing a more interactive game world instead.
