Forums - PC Discussion - The specifications needed to play the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt are out of this world!!!

It's a bit odd to see a GTX 770 as recommended for Nvidia owners and a R9 290 for AMD users given how the 290 is a much better card.

At least now I know what to look for for my next GPU. Waiting for AMD to launch their new cards so I can choose between the 970 and whatever they bring to the table.

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

Told you all that it will have very high recommended specs.

This is one of those Nvidia optimized games, that's why Witcher 3 uses Nvidia's PhysX and HairWorks technologies.

But still, the difference is considerable.

At least the min, cards are comparable.

Successful consoles are successful.

Easy to meet requirements, I'm set for recommended settings.

My video card is a little lacking, but I think I could run it.

Yeah, it is a pretty steep difference now that I look at it closer, the 770 averages at about 20-25% lower framerate than a 290 at the same graphics settings. Seems like Witcher 3 should at least be a 780 recommendation.

Exactly.

And things like Physics also make the performance take a hit, so putting the 770 doesn't really make much sense.

PS4 version it is then! Hopefully they don't downgrade it anymore.

I'd hope they never have to downgrade the PC version, like at all.
