Microsoft will hardly just ride this out for 10 months

If they want any profits from the Xbone - and I feel certain they do - then they won't have a choice.  Cutting prices too quickly kills consumer confidence while simultaneously putting yourself well ahead of the curve in terms of cost decrease vs price drop.

They should start by switching up the free games bundled in. A Halo MCC bundle would be nice.

Unity sold way more then MCC. Also wouldn't Sony counter with an order 1886 / Bloodborne bundle when they release?

Wii U 63
PS3 65

PS3 and 360 were fighting for top spot in the 90-100 area a few days ago. Now 360 is gone and PS3 went higher.

Sony will no doubt put out The Order and Bloodborne bundles, but they'' most likely be priced at $450.

Sony hasn't really given away free games barring the GTAV+TLOU Black Friday bundle which was only $400 on Black Friday and closer to $500 after that, and TLOU that comes with PS4s right now.

Microsoft on the other hand has been giving away newly released games away for free with XB1s since Titanfall last year.

I don't think it would do much for their sales, but the Assassin's Creed bundle is getting pretty stale.

PS4 - #12
XBO - #28

PS4 #11

XBOX ONE#27

amazon

I kid you not, I just checked about 10 minutes ago, and the X1 was at #25. Is it free falling now, or something?!

its at 28th now. but an interesting thing is that almost every xbox gift card is up now, green arrow for most of them, and they are all over the place. PS4 is down at 12.

They have actually been doing that since launch. they gave away fifa or forza 5 for free in EU at launch.

Given both last year, and this year January is going to be a 4 week month, I figured it might be interesting to compare amazon weeks

  PS4 2014 PS4 2015 XBox One 2014 XBox One 2015
Week 1 1 16 9 40
Week 2 5 7 19 27
Week 3 29 10 23 24
Week 4 2 11(current) 30 25(current)

So the PS4 isn't doing quite as well as last year(although more stable).  And the XBox One is doing much worse.

Position on chart has nothing to do with number of units selling, it's ony relative. As install base grows you expect more software, gift cards and peripherals to sell. That means consoles fall down the rankings but doen't necessarily mean hardware is selling less than last year.
