The cops are not corrupt by doing this its the system requiring quotas.

If you feared loosing your job because you did not meet a quota then you bend the rules too.

That doesn't make it right.  They could have done things to change the way things are handled, instead of going along with a flawed system, obviously.

When you have bills to pay and a family to support it isn't that easy. Job stability for people is important. Fear of loosing a job will change a man.

Then I guess you'd be totally okay with getting framed to meet someone's quota.

When it comes down to something like that, I don't care about your family if it means me going to jail for nothing.  The cops and their family can be put out on the streets before they put me in jail when I didn't do anything.  Screw that.  Screw them.  Who cares.  I don't know about you, but I'm more important than that.  To myself if no one else.  Those cops can go to hell.

Realistically, the solution here is just for municipalities to grow the balls to raise taxes. It's a hard sell, but telling the people that it will result in a vast reduction of police activity would be worth it.

At least in a rational world where this all wasn't at least partially motivated by racism and classism...

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

This is just disgusting, so much for the police being there to protect us. Just yet another business now!

You would think they would want less crime, not a sustained level of crime

Why is there a quota to begin with? This ensures corruption. Why would anyone allow this? It makes no sense and really destroys the trust that is supposed to exist between law enforcement and the community.

There's no way around it unfortunately.  There's a quota because most people can't be trusted to do their job when they're out there alone all day.

Is this seriously the sort of world we are in now where we have to screw each other over to even survive? How would feel if you went to jail because a cop framed you to meet these quotas you apparently support? how would your family and friends feel? It gives them a livelihood for now, but it screws up your life for no reason. that's not justice. thats despotism and we must not stand for it. If this practice is widespread, then the police are really no better than crooks. Sad really. We must fight for a better world than this

This is simply the tip of the ice berg. Framing people for needs... it is nothing compared to what else they're doing. I used to believe that police men were to be respected, and there are those who should be, but for this to be common practice, it depresses me. Think it's happening in NYC alone? That's the same chance that Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan will star in a kung fu movie together...

We all knew this was going on. However some still constantly group everyone as criminals that deserve everything they get.

Yes to your first question. It has been like that for decades in some places.

I didn't say i support this I said the system that is corrupt not the cops. That is what needs to change. They cannot feel like they will loose their job and they all need to stand as one on the issue, otherwise it will never change.
