Wouldn't this be something to report to the credit card company and not Sony to investigate? That's what you're normally suppose to do.

I'd say that Sony isn't resposible to give the refund but the credit card company should reimburse back if it was stolen.

I know when I got my Visa they told me if there are any purchases on my account that I didn't make just let them know and they'd take care of it.

Exactly.  This person probably doesn't know the correct protocal for a scenario such as this.

So someone hacked your account and only bought one game...Okay then.

Sony seriously needs that $60 for all the legal fees they'll be dealing with because of the recent hacking...

Hey-yo!!!

But seriously, cut the guy a break. At least give him $60 on the PS Store or something. I don't get it. They are obviously not letting the other guy keep the game. If they don't pay him back, they are legitimately stealing this guy's money.

With options like gift cards for each of the consoles you have to wonder why people would trust financial information to them, especially Sony in this case.

Given the evidence presented, Sony should offer the guy something.

Of course getting a refund from the credit card company would be the first choice but what would Sony's reaction be on a bounced payment? Anyone else think that could end in a banned account?

I think going to Sony first was a valid choice even though Sony could probably not verify if this was actually a case of a hacked account or just the same user buying from a different console.

So I'd cut both Sony and the user some slack.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

This case dont sound right to me. Something fishy is going on here.
1. Why didnt he go to his Credit card company first?
2. If someone hacked into his account, usually they would change the password and lock him out.
3. If hacker have control of his account, why not buy more games?
4. Sony would able to track down the console that credit card was used on other than his own.
5. Did he use his credit card on a friend, sister, brother, or family console and they bought a game without his consent. But since he willingly enter his CC info on the console. The Credit card company is not refunding him so he decided to go to Sony?
6. How do we know that he didn't buy the game on his friend or family console himself?
There are a lot of missing information here. The only thing we know is that the game was purchased on another console using his credit card.
If i was a hacker, I would not be that stupid to buy a game on my console with a stolen credit card. Sony can track down the console that it the CC was used on. But if i was a stupid hacker, i would buy as many games as possible using that stolen CC. I would also use that information to purchase other stuff too.

Yea well, the refund policies of virtually all digital retailers are pretty shitty other than EA weirdly enough! Not to say it shouldnt be improved cause it should since there are so many situations where a refund is necessary (like broken games and etc). But yea, poor dude if hes telling the truth, wut a whore if hes lying

I'll also chime in and agree that his credit card company will undoubtedly deal with it. When someone steals your credit card and buys a bunch of stuff at Best Buy, Best Buy isn't the ones who will give you a refund.
