Nintendo Life just did a piece on how Frozen: Olaf's Quest--specifically the DS version--is one of the most successful Nintendo games of the year.  They even quoted the dev, who went on and on about the astronomical number of copies it moved and is still moving.  No one mentioned numbers however, so I stopped by my local VGChartz and found the game at 250,000 units sold.

It raised some interesting questions.  Are the site's estimates for this game simply wrong or out of date?  If so, is it because this is just a kid's game, and no one cares?  That doesn't seem likely, as that would mean the rest of their numbers for similar games were basically worthless.  But then that brings up the other possibility that the numbers are right, and that the dev can normally get by with a very small number of sales, and 250,000 is striking it big.  That's hardly worth mentioning however, and is a far cry from the levels of success Nintendo's other properties have seen.

Thoughts?

The article is referring to a specific region. Hard to believe it's off much numbers wise (maybe percentage wise).

I notice it once in a while on the UK charts. It only makes the Combined All-Formats, and it's usually near the bottom.

While it still may be one of the highest for Nintendo games, seeing how irrelevant they are in the UK these days, the sales are still pretty significant.

It could just be that something in the region of 250,000 for shovelware with low development costs is very successful. I for one am always amazed / disappointed to see it keep charting in the UK each week... but we don't really have much of a Nintendo presence here.
