Patcher is now stating the obvious.

Pachter: PS4’s Plan Will Be ‘Peaking’ Next Year, Bets Microsoft Won’t Have As Many Games As PS4 In 2015

Michael Pachter praises Sony’s line up for 2015 and believes they have got their act together.

PlayStation 4 has a ton of games coming out in 2015 including indies and major AAA releases like The Order 1886, Bloodborne and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. On the other hand we have Microsoft’s Xbox One whose line up for 2015 is solid as far as AAA games are concerned. We have Halo 5: Guardians, Rise of the Tomb Raider and Fable Legends but the sheer number of games coming out on PS4 outpaces every console out there. However this could change in the near future.

Regardless, what does popular industry analyst Michael Pachter thinks about Sony’s line up for PS4 in 2015? “I think it’s the quantity of quality games. Normally, you expect kind of one game in the Spring, one or two in the Fall, but what do you have, six big titles, it’s probably doubled,” he said in an interview with Gametrailers.

“I don’t know what Microsoft has planned but I will be willing to bet that it’s not this many. I am surprised because I really thought that manufacturers won’t take the risk of developing for one console and they are taking it. Scott Rohde [PlayStation Software Product Development Head for Sony Worldwide Studios America] has done a phenomenal job, you have done a phenomenal job [referring to Adam Boyes, VP of Publisher & Developer Relations at PlayStation].”

“You guys got your s**t together early in the cycle [referring to Sony]. That is where Nintendo right now is suffering because they still don’t have the quantity of exclusives to drive their console and you guys have this plan. It’s peaking next year and that’s exactly where you want to be. It’s great and impressive.”

Pachter has a fair point here. As far as numbers goes, the PlayStation platform has a ton of games coming out for it. But numbers don’t always tell the true story. The Xbox One was the leading console in USA and UK last month with a superb line up of exclusives and bundle offers. So, it’s too early to declare a winner for 2015 but by the looks of it Sony does have the upper hand in terms of quantity. But in terms of quality, we will need to wait and watch.

The WiiU has a lot of problems, but exclusives are not one of them...

Eagerly looking forward to Zelda U.

Shit...it was looking like it was going to be such a good year for Sony :(

In all seriousness though, who on earth would look at the available information and come to a different conclusion? That's not a prediction, it's an observation.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

The PS4 will dominate most of next year. The Xbox One will probably run another price drop for the holidays and will likely win November and/or December in the US, but the rest of the calendar will belong to Sony. At the end of the PS3's life-cycle, they really got it together in terms of releasing games throughout the year, rather than clumping them up in the Fall. As a fan, I like that.

Oh nooo, Patcher just doomed the PS4, Xbox One domination approaching...

Hmm no. 2016 will be peak year.

I love that they do that release games all throughou the year. Releasing games only at the end of the year is annoying.

suddenly i cannot wait for 2016. xD
