Forums - Sony Discussion - Bet: PS4 won't sell under 180k any week in 2015

I love this formatting, very well done and easy to read. Love one for the Vita as well. Great work!

On the point, I think any week is a big ask as bound to be the odd off week along the way. Big variable is if Japanese sales finally pick up and can give a 20-40K weekly boost.

I am glad you like it :D

Of course, I know it is a bold prediction, but I strongly believe it can manage it.

Each and every generation when a new console launch, the following year always surpasses the one before it.

Take a look:

360: 2007 saw a growth of 15.85 %
PS3: 2008 saw a growth of 28.81 %
Wii: 2008 saw a growth of 46.12 %

Now, I am not saying, that PS4 will receive a
significant boost such as the Wii's, but PS4's boost will certainly not be lower than 360's, that much I am sure.

PS4's lowest week was 128,696, May 17th, so 51,304 short.

What I keep telling myself is:

- PS4 will receive its annual boost.
- PS4 won't be supply constrained in 2015.
- PS4 is likely to perform better in Japan in 2015.
- PS4 will launch in China.
- PS4 will have a lot of games in 2015, many of those timed, console and full exclusives.

I wish there was a way to subscribe to people so that every time they make a new thread, you would see it. I think a lotttttt of people would be subbing to you Lord ;) Seriously love your threads.

Nothing says fun like a good graph or chart!

- It´s possible, but not certain how big.

- PS4 wasn´t supply constrained anywhere after March 2014.

- We don´t know, games will tell, but Japan is now only 10% of WW market for home consoles.

- Effects of China regulation in games and limited supply are unknow.

- In fact there is no exclusives anounced that are heavy console pushers. Even Naughty Dog games tend to be slow burners. In 2014 Whatchdos and Destiny pushed many more consoles than any exclusives. And comparing to the 360/COD had more effect than any Halo or Gears game.

Yeah. Mostly I can't see PS4 below 160-180k; but still you might have very dead weeks where PS4 might go to 130k, you never know.

I am afraid of the months: May, June, July and August, but not the other 8. It certainly helps that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Batman: Arkham Knight is 'current' gen only, but there simply needs to be more exclusive games - luckily there are plenty of games slated for 2015 and hopefully some of them will release within those 4 months :D

Yep. There are some months which could have some very dead weeks , such as July and Aug.   But apart from some weak weeks, I can see an amazing 2015 for PS4, breaking many records.

Uncharted 1 was a slow burner but UC2, UC3 and The Last of Us all had incredible first week numbers (followed by sustained sales for a long time).

Signature goes here!

I think 160k is more likely to be the min baseline, and 170k at push. Summer months with few releases will really test it. Would be real impressive to see it beast 180k a week though. Basically April to August would be the only months were it'll drop to beneath the prediction

^^ Come again? ^^

You shouldn't look at them individually, but more as part of a puzzle. Each and every one of these games will push consoles - maybe not by much, yes, but when you look at them as a 'whole', that is another story.
