Actually there are a lots of idea for redisign a console, one of my idea is to combine the gaming pad with the Wii U hardware and make it as a Wii U tablet, that will invoke sales from casual audience.

It looks like a regular gamepad. It's a visual effect. Blurring the gamepad plus a big room (who plays so far from the TV?) makes the thing look smaller.

Weird, it's the same commercial as we've had in the EU for a while, but I've never noticed.

In other shots he's clearly holding the regular Gamepad though, so probably something's just off somehow in that particular shot.

There is absolutely no damn point, if true i'll facepalm as hard as i did with the wii redesign

The gamepad is fine the way it is.

If they going to redesign i would probably make the screen larger not the size of the pad smaller.

Then again the only reason you would redesign the gamepad at this point to a smaller size would be to cut down manufacture costs.

i think its just the angle and blue that makes it look different

if you look at him from the front view towards the end, its still the same size

it will become too heavy and if they want to make it light and small it would cost more that what it is now and Nintendo wants to reduce the price to make a profit

Not if they remove the disk drive, and the smaller the design, the cheaper the cost require to produce the Wii U, having 2 items (game pad and main system ) is expensive because they have to put on bigger box, more material, more production line, etc. The technology is actually exist and very cheap, i believe they can produce smaller Wii U in two years from now.
