Black Friday proves its popularity among Spanish players. The 2014 edition of this american tradition of discounts has been an huge success in spanish gaming industry. Sales during the weekend reached 54,100 consoles and 380,000 videogames , representing a total revenue of 30.6 million euros. According to data from GfK, these revenues are shared equally between consoles and games, 15.3 million each one.
These data represents a significant growth of 34% compared to the year 2013. This positive effect has been noticed in all next-generation platforms, including both consoles and games.
Home and portable console sales have more than doubled from the previous week, In addition, sales of video games has also noticed an increase of 65%.
Christmas time sales, the biggest sales period of all year, begin with optimism and videogames are expected to be a top christmas present.
