A leading video games analyst has predicted that Wii owners will 'likely' purchase a PS3 as their next console before Christmas, while adding Sony will slash the price of its PS3 system later this year.

Speaking to Reuters, Pamela Tufegdzic said: "We anticipate Sony will have another price slash on the PS3 this year, and come Christmas, consumers who originally bought the Wii will likely purchase the PS3."

Tufegdzic said she believes 2008 will see a turnaround for the PS3 and its future success, stating: "2008 will be a turning year for the PS3 - Sony is offering a better forthcoming software pipeline with blockbuster titles like Gran Turismo 5, which will boost PS3 sales this year."

Despite continuing to lose money on each PlayStation 3 console sold, Sony believes manufacturing costs will fall below sales prices this year.

I think in america the wii owners will be buying more x-box 360's

since it is the casual game market, i think a lot of wii owners won't buy a second console. for the hardcore gamers who only own a wii at the moment, it's a case by case basis. it's all about who has the games. right now i think that's the 360, maybe the ps3 by the end of 08.

i think it will be the ps3/360 crowd that will continue to pick up wiis as their second option.

sorry about that but I will say most article are titled by what the article is about and not the company who wrote it or did the analysis.

i mean honestly. do people still believe that the ps3 will win? do people still believe that the ps3 will outsell the wii? just please....just...just stop, ok? the ps3 will NEVER!!!!!!! outsell the wii. no matter how hard it tries it will never. even on a week like this where half the wii's werent shipped, for some reason, the ps3 still cant beat it. once brawl comes out the wii will sell 400-450k copies per week outselling the ps3+360 by at least 2-1. i guarantee you that throughout this year the wii will sell the most out of the three consoles for 49 out of the 52 weeks of this year. the only time last year that the ps3 outsold the wii was during the price drop.

so in summary:
wii=ultimate console

ps3=vacuum sucking up an octopus in a dark hole= major sucking.... compared to the wii.

horrible; the hardcore gamers that are wii owners will buy a ps3 as they are just waiting for prices to go down

the blue ocean wii owners will never even consider ps3
the wii owners that feel gamepads are obsolete will never consider a ps3
casual wii owners that buy 1 console per generation will never consider a ps3
marioboys that only own mario consoles (apparently 22mil) will never consider a ps3

i hope no one considers gamepads obsolete. i still prefer a gamepad to the wii mote on a number of titles. maybe because a gamepad is far less hit and miss in terms of hitting a button and having something happen as opposed to motion controls (in the hands of poor developers).
