Forums - PC Discussion - Any ideas on a good laptop to buy?

You really need to say what size (and format) screen you're looking for. Choices always start from there.

Then you could say what games are you planning to play on it, wether you want an IPS screen, need a disc drive and so on.

You could also go for a small, light notebook for general laptopping and some light gaming, maybe something like a Yoga convertible or even a MacBook Air, and a PC for games. I would say to avoid Jizz's suggestions at all costs (sorry Jizz). Vance's suggestion is okay if that's what you want, but this is better: http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/thinkpad/yoga-series/yoga-14/

Screen size / format: 15.6 / 16:9 preferably

Games: Counter Strike, Battlefield, Metro, Project Reality, Red Orchestra... mostly shooters.

IPS screen: No

Disc Drive: Rarely used but I will use it.

I do not currently have a desktop and most likely won't have one any time soon. Basically I'm just looking for something that will run the latest games at medium-high settings.

Take a read at this then, it's all about 15,6" gaming laptops at your budget range.
