Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Amiibos for Smash look actually pretty good

At first I didn't care at all about Amiibo, never was really into the Skylander type stuff, but after watching this video I actually got pretty excited about it, it's a really cool concept and mechanic that I might actully buy one.

Gawd, everytime I see an amiibo thing, I feel like this should always be included in the trailers and stuff

But yea, I am gonna get the falcon figure although, some people are getting like all of them which is like wtf... Thats $200+! And yea, there seems to be some crazy ai thing going on as well

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

I might buy one, first I have to find a new main though now that Ice Climbers are gone =(

i hope u can make amiibos play against each other in multiplayer.
train it, let it fight, like pokemon

You can, the only thing I believe Amiibos can't do is fight in online multiplayer.

wel thats not so cool. we need this patched in amiibo only online play

The implementation of a personal computer opponent that doesn't just learn, but can be deliberately "taught" is really cool. I still don't think I want it enough to buy one, but these little $14 figures are going to make great gifts for friends and stuff, so I imagine I'll end up with one eventually.

I'm still a bit iffy on how exactly they learn. For instance, it seems like if you attack them with a lot of jabs, they will "learn" to use jabs frequently. But that isn't very helpful. Wouldn't it make more sense for them to learn how to defend against jabs? I guess you have to first teach them to jab, then shield or dodge their jabs to teach them to do that.

Planning on getting 1 and I'll decide if I want more after that.

I agree. At first I thought it's quite pointless, but trying to level up your little Pokémon-like Amiibo friend is very cool!!! Gamexplain has noticed that they learn moves and techniques based on who they play against, so that's interesting.- he played 3 hours of Wii U version!!!

I just don't know which one to get.
