I'd go with the PS4. It might be more expensive now but it's a console that will last 5 years+. Your kids will grow up eventually and they will ask for the PS4 especially if their friends have it.

Choose to be future proof by getting a PS4. This Christmas Sony is going to rock and the PS4 library will increase like crazy in 2015

If you're looking into the future, get a PS4 now and you will be satisfied for a long time. There aren't too many games that are appropriated for your kids, but they will love the ones out there this christmas.

If you're thinking in a cheaper choice with more variety and a short-term console, then get the PS3. With the remaining money, you can buy many games that fit well in your kids tastes, and even Minecraft and Fifa as well.

I know PS4 is still a baby in it's life cycle buy it has failed to wow me like it's competitors have. Hopefully I will actually use mine once good games come out for it
