Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Could Bayonetta 2 ratings boost software sales in NA?

Will reviews sell Bayo 2

Yes 43 34.96%

No 24 19.51%

Maybe 18 14.63%

Hopefully 38 30.89%

Total:123

I know it is a rare occurance where a game is sold widely due to ratings and not good advertising or hype, but could Bayonetta 2 still bring in some impressive sales because of ratings? There's very little hype and commercials are infrequent and scattered so I don't think that those will do anything but it does have a chance if reviews make a difference.

It will help but it wont do too much until they market it like crazy! At least they are having some commercials for now but they should use the scores as part of the TV marketing imo

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

Zero chance of that happening ...

The mass market never listens to the review sites, what they really do is respond to their desires ...

Amazon best sellers isn't much to go by for obvious reasons, but I think it's still worth noting that (as of me typing up this post) Bayonetta 2 hasn't left the top 10 in Amazon US best sellers since the reviews came out, and it is also #15 for best sellers in the month of October (#6 in actual video games on that list).

Best sellers for October 2014

I'd say the really good reviews are at least somewhat helping, and the fact that they are putting adverts on Adult Swim, NBC, YouTube, etc. is doing something to spread more awareness awareness of the game's existence.

It already has. If it scored like the wonderful 101, it'd sell much like it too. Now we know its good, it'll clear 500k easy

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Not really, the kind of customer who; A: would buy such a game to begin with, and; B: reads reviews online is more than likely already decided whether or not to buy it, (expected) high reviews won't have any impact.

Don't dismiss good reviews. There were a lot of people on the fence about Bayonetta. The reviews have definitely swung the conversation in my mind, and I know I won't be the only one. Of course good reviews will give a boost in sales. Maybe not massively, but at least a fair amount.

Could a girl accost me sexually on campus tomorrow?

It's possible, and it'd be awesome, but it's not likely.

Bayo 2 will do better than a lot of people think, especially when it comes to moving consoles. Its the kind of game that can provide a pretty good bump in the US.

Good reviews usually give games good legs. It wont spike any sales, but i expect it to keep them goingat a steady pace for a good while.
