I don't get the hate towards sunshine.

For me it was the monotonous setting, lack of atmosphere, lack of variety, garish music, and just overall blandness.

Yet, it was a tru step forward, unlike 3D World. Sunshine at the time really got my interest. The setting could not be better: beach, forest, sea... It was the perfect game to play in Summer time!

So you should actually *play* 3D World, regardless if going in you think its just an HD 3D land. It's really awesome!

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

It would be sad if the Wii U ended in the only Nintendo home console without a great 3D Mario platformer. I really want to play a new 3D platformer masterpiece by Nintendo.

You are a PlayStation kid. Even the door is going to hit you on your way out, because it's so disgusted by your opinion.

Much less than you are.

I remember reading a while back that 3d world wasn't really developed by the core team that does the main mario games??? I think??? Maybe???

It was made by EAD Tokyo that made the Galaxy games and 3D Land. It even had the biggest team of all Mario games.

NSMB2 was made by a new team.

My mistake!

I get it. Not that i fully agree, but i get it.
The lack of variety and the settings were probably the things that most held it back, but i don't think things were that bad to people really "hate" it.

There some levels i wasn't too fond of, but enjoyed the settings and how you used FLUDD to move around and fight enemies.

Ah, I misunderstood, I thought you meant you actually didn't know why it was disliked by many.

That actually it, i didn't get all the hate. :D

I should have said: now i get it. Would have been clearer.

To the topic creator, to call Sunshine a must-have Mario game and then to dismiss 3D World is criminal. Having played both I consider the latter considerably better than the former. 3D World is so much more than just a 3D Land sequel, I thought the community had figured that out by now. Just buy the game and you'll see how must-have is - I promise you will not be disappointed.

NSMBU is not must-have, but you know what, it's the best NSMB game there is. Find time for it some day, especially if you can get it fairly cheap - I think it's a very overhated game, I had a lot of fun playing through it the last couple of weeks.

The Wii U does lack a Mario game (or any game for that matter) that hits the heights of the Galaxy duo. I hope one is in the pipeline, but who knows. For now my main hope of a game of that quality comes from Zelda rather than Mario.

I won't buy 3D World, as I said, I don't like the style of this game. I don't like the camera, I don't like the small scale of the world, I don't like the multiplayer platformer, I don't like being in a small corridor in a 3D game, I don't like the ridiculous cat gimmick and I don't like the fact it does not even make full use of the analogic stick.

The thing is that the Wii U will end with the only Nintendo home console where I would not have any Mario platformer, and that's not being I don't want to buy it. I Nintendo had released a new full scale 3D Mario, I would have bought the Wii U beofre MK8. I would buy the next Mario without any hesitation if it wasn't a 2.5 Land or World game.

It almost sounds like you want a sandbox /open world system like GTA introduced. I won't say it won't happen, as the new Zelda game will have something like that. I would suggest renting Wii u's 3d mario World and giving a fair go, it's a lot more fun than your mind has decided that it is.

Now I personally loved Sunshine and so did the critics. I also loved 3D World. Anyway:

Gamecube?

So you admit to being one. Case closed.

You don't make sense anymore.

I don't want a sandbox GTA game. I was very happy with all 3D Mario before Nintendo went the 3D World way. Just giving me the previous formula would totally please me. I rate the Galaxy games as the best Wii games by far with Skyward Sword and as the best 3D platformers ever.
