Nothing you will do with those will require an i5, probably not even an i3. Duping people while falsely claiming innovation makes this one of the worst things.
Also I'm pretty sure an i3 already easily beats the PS4 CPU in gaming ;)

Really depends if the programm or game runs well on multiple cores. You can't simply compare Desktop i3s with those having the U Prefix, since quite some funtions had to be cut out to achieve such a low TDP. If the programm can make use of more than 4 cores the processor in the consoles should beat the i3.
And yeah, there is not much out there right now what can actually use the additional Power compared to Raspberry Pi or comarable Computer.
