If anyone really wants to some pre-NPD commentary they are better off looking at VGC and Amazon to try to get a read for what will be on top. VGC is frequently off but rarely does it get the placings wrong except when things are very close.

I love Pachter. He does this for fun. And he doesn't get paid for it.

Prediction is not what he is paid for in his real job. At least not a core asset.

Now I'm not exactly a fanboy, yes I like many things but I'm also a fence sitter when it comes to multiple choices/products and I like to make my own choices on the things I want and critizise them based on what they offer, I feel that's pointless however when faced with the "return of the king" type people because it's like talking to a wall, a wall that will downplay the opposite to make their choice seem like the "superior" and "only" option for anyone to take, Joystick made an article on the console wars and how tribal it was and it's a fact that it is indeed tribal but it's also really old and stale to what it's gotten to.

I don't see a reason to downplay the PS4 based on it's success but it also doesn't have anything I'd want from it yet while the other two platforms and PC offer me games I do want yet it's painted as a "bad choice" followed by downplaying of those choices with figures thrown up (like on here for example) in order to justify their downplaying instead of letting me and others have the choice, why does it need to be "just hope yuou know you're getting the weakest smallest possible experience" along with "nothing will beat Sony" when the opposite choice is made?, I know we all have opinions but to me it seems like those opinions are being thrown around like facts as if everyone who doesn't choose a Sony console made a "bad choice".

Last gen I've seen congrats to Sony, contempt to MS and empathy for Nintendo, this gen hardly seems any different although now there's even more personal ire towards MS for the early trick they tried to pull which was made by a different person last year and now Phil is trying to clean up the crap and people refuse to change their minds, what if Sony does the same in the future and those people don't change their minds either no matter what they do, does that make them 100% right?.

Last I heard anything credible about his credibility, it was slightly higher than that of the other analysts in the same research. That, and all the forum people who think he's bad just because they hear only his bad predictions.
