Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Capcom and their Wii "tests" - What are they storing for us Wii owners?

I think, when this generation is over, Capcom will be remembered by Nintendo fans as the company that promised a lot but offered very little.

In other words, these "tests" are just ways to bring the spin-offs and lesser games to the Wii and the top to the 360/PS3.

I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think the Wii will ever get a single AAA title from Capcom.

New IP's don't seem to sell that well on the Wii, so my guess is sequels/spinoffs. Megaman seems like an obvious guess considering some of what we have heard. Maybe an RPG like Breath of Fire or another Onimusha game.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

I would hope they finally realize that whatever they do, it will pretty much sell on the Wii. So they should finally give us a version of Street Fighter IV, Bionic Commando, Resident Evil 5, and while they're at it, some new Mega Man and Viewtiful Joe action.

Hey, maybe they're planning to resurrect Dead Phoenix (no pun intended).

These "tests" aren't tests: they're a way to make a quick buck while Capcom develops bigger games... most likely also for the Wii.

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

What good new IP has there been on the Wii so far? There's Zack & Wiki, a poorly-advertised kiddy-looking game, and No More Heroes, a poorly-advertised, artsy-looking game. That's about it.

I would wager another RE spin-off like UC, but probably not a on rails shooter. I think it'll be something like RE:5 UC, maybe a prequel or a side story. Either way, I just want them to give us some more quality games.

My Games of 2011:

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Super Mario 3D Land

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception

Breath of Fire is a franchise they haven't touched in a long time. Demon's Crest and Final Fight have also both been dead for a while.  Now is a good time to resurrect some of those classics.  Demon's Crest fared poorly sales-wise when it was released on the SNES, but there's always a possibility that something like that would sell really well these days.

To revise, I'd like to see anything new on the Wii from any of the following:

Viewtiful Joe
Mega Man
Demon's Crest
Final Fight
Street Fighter
Resident Evil (RE5 and a new Umbrella Chronicles that covers RE2, Code Veronica, and RE4)
Breath of Fire
and/or the resurrection of Dead Phoenix

There you go. I fixed that for you. We know what you meant to say so, no hard feelings.

Don't forget Ghouls N Ghosts/Ghosts N Goblins. That could be a good resurgent franchise.

Hi, this is Vince with Shamwow.

It's really just a bunch of bull.

Capcom has already stated that they're a multi-platform company. I really don't get what "tests" you guys are talking about. I'm guessing you guys just heard John Lucas say it and decided to go with it. Capcom has already been giving Wii great support. Capcom games for the Wii include the following: Resident 4, Okami, Resident Evil Zero, Zack & Wiki, and Monster Hunter. All of those games are very, very high quality games. Now, let's compare it to the HD support. Capcom games on the HD consoles: Devil May Cry 4, Resident Evil 5, Lost Planet, Dead Rising, Bionic Commando, and Street Fighter IV. If you ask me, the Wii's Capcom support is every bit as good as the HD consoles support.

Personaly, I think you guys are asking for to much. The Nintendo Wii, despite it's sales, is not going to get every game. There's money to be made on every console, and Capcom is taking advantage of that fact. Also, Capcom has stated that Megaman games will be on the Wii and DS. Nintendo fans have nothing to worry about, as Capcom is giving Nintendo's platforms tons of support.
