Because it's a portable game, who the hell are you sharing the game with?

Are you an only child?

No, why does this matter? Myself and my brother shared whatever. We had Gold beat 30 times overbetween us before we finished, on a 1 save fle system. Learn to share bro. Don't be greedy.

Hell that question is way off-topic.

Also an example, me and my brother have 2 PS3s between us. When CoD MW2 came out, we both bought a copy for ourselves so we didnt have to share. There is nothing wrong with having multiple games, or both versions of the game (since you need both to complete the game with Pokemon). The only people who complain about this are the ones who have been forced to share things...

It matters because everyone didn't have it like you and your brother, duh. And if my question is off topic, then what does that make the question it was in response to?

Is it so hard to believe that two siblings who have to share one console and one copy of a game between them would each want their own save file, to experience the full experience themselves? There's nothing wrong with that either. Try to put yourself in someone else's shoes.

I always had a issue with this. They need to change it.

They should make it so when you finish the game, you can finally unlock the second save file. But it can't trade with anyone. It will be purely single player. They can also have a difficulty setting as well. Or better yet, a randomizer option  for wild and gifted Pokemon. In the end, the champion will be your old save file's first hall of fame team with the same level as it was or as high as the champion (in case you abused battle items to win).

Money money money!

Edit: And is that such a bad thing? They make the game for money to begin with.

I refuse to believe that money itself is enough to inspire people to make great pieces of entertainment.

You can refuse to believe reality but that doesn't stop it from being reality. Pokémon would have been dead a long time ago if it wasn't a money-spinner. Of course the developers do put what you might call "love" into the development process, but it's all in the name of money.

Imagine if a Pokémon game with multiple save files was made. I genuinely think that would put a signifiant dent in sales - maybe 5% or something like that. You think Nintendo are going to allow that to happen?

Pokémon save files as of Black and White are at a respectable 4MB. X and Y should be double that. That throws storage out of the equation.

Eh, I still say that this is because people might accidentally save over each other's save, which means endless bickering and a world of pain for the one whose file got saved over.

LOL it warns you that your save file will overwrite the old one. If you ignore that, that's your fault. Unless you're trolling that person.

...Okay I seriously answered this question a couple pages ago and people are still screaming greed? Some people really need to google it, specifically look for what Satoshi the creator of pokemon says.
Here is a hint it starts with trad and ends with ing. -_-
