You have to remember that companies always a priorities, even if XIII team were completely different (which is an assumption and likely wrong, Nomura himself is involved in XIII and XIII-2 ) XV / Verses has never been the priority for SE untill September 2011, and then XIV RR took the company attention from XV again. Also, the core team is the same team as Kh series, they developed a total of 7 games since 2006, they definitely not doing nothing:

Kingdom Hearts coded

Kingdom Hearts Mobile

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days

Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep

Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance

Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix

Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix

To clear, i said "almost" nothing. As in, the project advanced so slow that much work didnt get done in 6 years. Of course, we can speculate how they have shuffled their resources, but we just can't know for sure. But, i am pretty sure that the Kingodm hearts series has a different development team as its the Osaka team that handled it. Actually its the KH team that is working on the HD remasters atm aswell as KH3. They obviously dont cross over with FFXV as both are in development simultaneously (if we believe what squeenix says).

Have to add that XV was created as Versus. The point of this was to have 2 teams competing to make the best title in the XIII series. It wouldnt really make much sense to cross teams there. I am pretty sure that around the time Lighting returns was announced they said that it didnt cross development with XV, so it wouldnt affect its release.

I dont know why all this fuss though. Its obvious they are underperforming when a game is in development for 6 years and it isnt out yet. I dont understand what was so shocking about me remarking that, but oh well. :)

Oh, you had a polite answer VXIII. I will gladly keep debating the issue with you on my wall or something. I dont want to post on this thread anymore.

Anyways, I think this pretty much confirms Nomura left cause he's sick of this hellacious development. If it's taken nearly a decade to get it half-way there, I imagine he was exhausted/annoyed at the possibility of spending another 5+ years on the project. I bet KH3 comes out before this now since Nomura can focus fully on it and I'm sure he has a clear vision for that given its his own franchise.

The Osaka and Tokyo's development studios merged in 2010 to form the 1st Production Department. The teams in charge of the Fabula Nova Crystallis, Dissidia and Kingdom Hearts are all collectively referred to as this single 1st Production Department. And the structure you're alluding to hasn't been in place since at least 2007. So yeah... It doesn't work like you assume anymore.

As for your claim that "The point of this was to have 2 teams competing to make the best title in the XIII series"... Really... You read the word Versus and assume you know everything about what it means? Nomura said that the conept and thinking behind the game was unfitting for a regular numbered Final Fantasy installment. The word Versus was used to express a change of direction for the series. Not as a "this title VS this other title". In latin, the word Versus means "to change/alter" or "to turn around".  -___-

hype meter dropping fast

Isn't that what all Final Fantasy fans have said in the past? Yet the instant SE shows off a new XV trailer, it seems that everything is forgiven and their hype goes through the roof. It's unfortunate that SE will never learn because they know that they've got a hold on their fans.

Not only that, if you dared to disagree with the "awesomeness" of the trailer, you were a troll and a hater -.-

OT: No female protagonist sure is a bad thing, but ryuzaki might be right. Afterall, they have written very interesting femaler characters (no sarcasm here), there is little reason not to include a few in this project.

This project is a mess, besides the marketing/hype benefits it looks like a very poor venture. If Tomb Raider and all other million sellers were failures for S-E, I wonder how many millions does this one have to sell. And the worse part is that most gamers seem not to be bothered by this situation.

No playable female characters huh? Don't let Anita Sarkeesian hear about this.

Where did we get the idea that only Noctis is playable? previous trailers have shown player take direct control over other characters. For instance when you are using the blonde with a gun, it goes into 3rd person shooter style.

Square Enix has FF Type-0 HD coming in March, and we know Tomb Raider for Holiday. They MIGHT still put FFXV in Holiday 2015 to ensure success but that isn't a definite. I think 2016 is most practical though.

A little disappointing about having no female playable characters but still hyped as hell for the game.

I know.. I'm disappointed too. But it's true. Tabata revealed that in an interview with 4gamer.

No playable female characters? FU then!

Should every game have stories with females as playable protagonists?

Why can't I play a male in Tomb Raider? -___-
