Forums - General Discussion - Pro Gamer Danny “Phobos” Zeitz murdered selling his PS4

The world of pro-gaming has been reeling today, as it has recently been made public that the 28 year old Daniel John Zeitz, also known as ‘Danny Zeitz’ or his handle ‘Phobos’ has been murdered by a gunshot wound to the chest, while trying to sell his unwanted PS4 via Craigslist.

Daniel met up with a couple last Friday who claimed an interest in buying the console from him, only to try and rob him at gunpoint, which led to Daniel’s death when he resisted. The shooters consisted of an unnamed 16 year old mother and her 20 year old partner, known as Nathaniel Vivian. The young couple’s 16 month old child was even present when the robbery took place. Mr Vivian was also injured during the robbery as a bullet passed through his hand, and both were arrested at the same hospital that tried to treat Danny.

Danny, known more commonly as Phobos, was something of a minor celebrity in the eSports world, famous for playing competitive Gears of War professionally in the MLG leagues. His friends and team members were the last to speak to Danny, including fellow star K.L Smith.
“Shortly before the shooting he was playing with his other teammates and said, ‘Hey guys, I’ll be right back,'” Smith said Tuesday morning. “I guess that’s when he went outside to do this Craigslist deal and got shot.”

Smith, who goes under the name arCtiC, has posted an emotional and heartfelt obituary on Youtube, over losing his Gears of War ‘Brother’. You can watch it below.

The ‘GoFundMe’ page mentioned in the video can be found here if you want to donate towards Danny’s funeral costs, which has so far nearly raised $18,000.

Mine, and everyone else at GH tower’s heart goes out to Danny’s friends and family who are currently reeling from the loss. Rest in peace, Mr Buddy Buddy.

i'll bump this once, as the forum is moving too fast and this topic just dissapeared from the front page in less than 2 minutes!

Messed up man.. People killing other people for something so unimportant in life as a console.. Thoughts go out to his friends and family

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

What a shitty way to go. I think back to the PS4's I sold at launch, I was worried as fuck this would happen. So I picked the police station and bank parking lots as my only meeting place.

Gotta be careful selling anything, especially $400 electronics.

It's quite pathetic though that someone would kill another person for something that cheap. Not that it would be ok for higher amounts, but at least something like 200K or something of the sort can't be attained so easily, but 400 dollars!? The world is a sick place

That's really sad.

That's a really smart thing to do.
