Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Will the New 3DS support a VC with GBA and SNES games?

New 3DS will have more VC games?

Yes, both SNES and GBA 10 71.43%

Only GBA 0 0%

Only SNES 1 7.14%

No, will remain the same 3 21.43%

Total:14

Question is on the  title. We know that the cpu will be improved at the point to be comparable to the wii, besides a larger poll of memory.

Will this be enough?

"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."

Why wouldn't a regular 3DS be able to play SNES games when GBA got ports of SNES games?

My guess. The gba got full ports. The VC works in a way where you'd have to emulate a SNES playing a SNES game, rather than just a SNES game

Because emulation needs much more power. The SNES games on GBA weren't SNES ROMs, they were optimized for the system.

The GBA ambassador games on 3DS were running natively (not emulated).

Yeah, I think GBA and SNES VC titles are a possibility for the New 3DS.

A port is not the same as emulation (VC), which takes a whole lot of power compared to ports which can be optimized for the console.

Yep.

And that's why they doesn't have restore points and I guess they wouldn't release them as VC games. I read it in an interview some time ago but can't remember where.

Yep.
