The Crew set to 30 FPS on PC, but won’t go above 60 FPS if unlocked

There’s probably a better way to word that headline, but anyway: Ubisoft have confirmed that their upcoming open-world racer The Crew is intentionally limited to 30 FPS.

According to this thread on Ubisoft’s forums, users can modify C:Users\DocumentsThe CrewPCScalability.xml to manually set the frame rate cap, but it won’t run at above 60 even if numbers higher than that are entered.

Ubisoft’s community manager Ubi-Valentin posted to say this:

The final game will run in 1080p with 30 frames per second on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, and will support up to 5760*1080p on PC for triple screen set-ups. Right now the team is focusing on providing an optimal experience for all players. You can unlock it in the file you’ve found, but it may affect the game’s performances. Your call.

Interesting to say the least. Must've been too time consuming to optimize on PC. PC gamers may see this quite a bit in the coming years. For multiplats anyway.

First NFS Rivals and now this. I don't know whats wrong with these studios, I really dont.

This game will be a commercial failure. Driveclub, forza horizon 2 and project cars have already made racing catalog of this fall crowded. I admit this game is different. But it will be no fun to race in an empty server.

well then I will skip this game. I already regret buying nfs rivals, even with the 60 fps unlock method, it runs really bad. feels like a big downgrade after most wanted 2012.
