Forums - Gaming Discussion - Microsoft seems to be forcing developers to downgrade the ps4 visuals to match xbox one games through parity clause.

COD is almost synonimous with xbox, I would not be surprised if MS paid a lot of $$ to keep one of its flagships relevant to its platform. The same with sports games. But I would not worry for any other games cuz it would cost them to much since the ps4 is selling 2:1 to x1.

Why wouldn't they have done that last year with COD: Ghosts?

There is no way that the PS4 version of COD: Advanced Warfare will have a lower rez than COD: Ghosts. Either Xbox One version hits 1080p or parity isn't happening. Why on earth would people think parity = PS4 downgrade as opposed to Xbox upgrade? Negativity gets clicks I guess. Especiall anti-ms negativity.

Why dint they? well maybe cyz last year it would not matter since all consoles where going to sell out no matter what and now that people know whats up and theres going to be a choice in the matter MS has to take precaution. Maybe last year since it was the launch of a new gen then they had to prove that this game was truly next gen and couldnt afford to gimp the ps4 version because it will loose hype. There are many unknowns you cant be certain of anything so dont inmediatly reject all opinions if you yourself have no prove either.

But I agree with you that there is almost no way that they will downgrade the ps4 below ghost. But there is a chance that last cod was rushed and both versions could have done better, and they could avoid improving the ps4(who knows it might look better than it did last year) this time and just work on the x1 version.

It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.

this is all rumor and speculation until this actually happens. last time i checked every multiplate between the two performed and looked better on PS4. this is al FUD.

Doubt it. Devs now a days are on a power trip, pubs like Sony and MS cant tell them what to do unless the pony up some cash. MS would risk losing that dev to PC, Sony, or worse Nintendo. Even if you are the market leader, you don't want to be left out.

I am not surpise if Mircosoft forces this on all games. They could flat out deny games being released on their platform if the PS4 versions performs better so developers will have no choice ,but to cave in. Thoughts?

MS can't force parity, period.  What they can do is request that all of their games run at 1080p/60 FPS, and developers will likely agree.  The thing is the PS4 versions will have a ton more detail packed into those 1080p images with a more consistant framerate.

Don't kid yourselves people, the gap ain't goin' nowhere!

They may improve the graphical detail and other features on the consoles but that is not what anyone is really talking about is it? The only thing people are concerned with is resolution and framrate. Those are the things that grab headlines and no COD game on PS4 is ever going to be better than 1080p/60fps so basically the ony thing they can do at this point is be on par with Ghosts. So no, it won't be held back because it can't get any better and we already agree that it's not going to get worse, so the only possibilities are that Xbox upgrades or there is no parity.

Oh so I guess MS just forgot about the parity clause for Ghosts' release.

Let me know when some concrete evidence of this shows up because at this point it's all speculation.

One of the launch games had a post-release patch that made the PS4 version 1080p but unpatched version was artificially at the same resolution setting as the XBO version. I don't remember if that was Ghosts or something else.

It was AC Black Flag. That game was 900p on PS4 when it was released and 720p on Xbox One so there was still never parity. They had their reasons for doing that but it had nothing to do with MS.

Total flame guy should be banned for a flame troll thread MS never asked for parity Sledghammer game said they were aiming for it!

To many games already optimized for PS4 with better visuals PS4 already got a great lead why the flame are people that scared the chiefs

collections gonna dethrone PS4? botcott the game and the developer! or show actual proof MS requested parity? This place never changes

If I were a publisher and Microsoft tried to force parity on me, I'd call their bluff, personally. No way Microsoft is going to lose CoD over a fight about parity. Losing CoD would hurt Microsoft a lot more than it would hurt Activision, and would help Sony considerably. Activision would probably suffer very little. This applies to any major 3rd party. So in any case where a company "strives for parity" I think it's likely just a decision on the company's part because they think it'll benefit them, not Microsoft making demands.
