Forums - Politics Discussion - Coroner to investigate violent videogame Call of Duty after teenage suicides

The media won't stop on their mission to make every violent video look bad. These boys also drank water. Shouldn't this guy be investigating this too?

Water does not cause one to kill themselves. If there is no other explaination, then what should people think? What you put in your body affects you. Whether in your mind or your stomach. Water makes you live, depressing violence makes some kill themselves. Doctors are smart.

Fair enough, I respect your opinion. But it just seems like the media tries to blame games such as Call of Duty and Battlefield.

This I find an odd thing, sure it's sad some children took their lives and parents are trying to find out answers why but thinking a computer game is the reason is a little silly. The game is the most popular game, so out of all those that play it, there will always be a percentage of users that have things happen to them, the game isn't responsible for these suicides. It would be like them blaming the game on the number of affairs people in relationships have against those that played the game a lot.

Based on this article alone I can make more presumptions to their suicides than just blaming the game, Callum didn't go out much, therefore probably didn't have many close friends and in school this can hurt a developing mind.

Hmm, pie.

while i dont think there is a connection to a video game and violence. but wouldn't i be blamed on bad parenting since the game is a mature rated game then the kids shouldn't have been able to get it unless the parents got it for him.

They are obbsssed.
and that game is violent.

Watch if activision gets sued.....

Addiction to anything is a sign of underlying problems and can cause non normal behaviors. Were these young men addicted to CoD?

Oh, please. This again? Videogames are becoming the scapegoats to societies' problems. The Coroner should investigate deeply for other reasons other than this.

It concerns me more that parents are less literate than the kids they choose to have. 18 rated, means 18 rated. If an investigation is even warranted, it should start with the parents, and end with the parents. And besides, since when is killing yourself a mission objective in Call of Duty?

Video games has been the new Marilyn Manson. Only a matter of time before something else comes along

Sorta...Videogames are the new Music, which was the new Movies, which was the new Comic Books, which was the new Books...everytime a new medium gets popular, there's someone screaming:
