Looks like it'll be only 3 places for English teams next year unless the Italian teams really cock up.

WTF is up with English football? Porto are a good team, no shame in losing to them. But Arsenal losing at home to Olympiakos? Maybe that alone wouldn't be so bad but they also lost to Dinamo Zagreb!

The crazy part is the amazing influx of funds English clubs have due to massive teleision contracts. They should be very competitive right now.

English defences are awful at the moment. This past weekend, there were at least 3 goals in every game but 1 and in most it was 4 or more in the Prem. Great for spectators but still...

Hmm, pie.

thats because english teams have no patience.. i find it funny that people in england are saying Van Gaals "style" of playing is strange cause its based on possession.. like its a culture shock..

Yeah, we don't like slow posessive football. It's dull. Barcelona and Spain a few years ago where the best teams in the world but so boooorrring to watch. But that doesn't explain why they can't defend. Many of the goals let in aren't to do with pure football skill (some are obviously) but defensive mistakes. Take the Leicester Arsenal game, finished 2-5. Arsenals goals came from the fact Leicester, even though they are playing Arsenal who had Walcott up front played a high defensive line meaning Walcott easily ran passed them on numerous occastions. While Arsenal let in a counter attack and the other one they just stood around while Vardy shot.

The lack in defense against European teams is pretty easy because defending against teams who play possesive football is about anticipation and interception.. cause the passing is that good and fast.. and lets just say most English top teams lack in smart top defender department.. a problem for a lot of teams. look at ManU they have Blind who solves everything with his mind not strenght or speed. if only 5% of his smartness was inserted into Phil Jones and you would have the perfect defender.

Yes but that means Phil Jones would be 100% less funny.
