Forums - Sony Discussion - New stunning 20 minutes of Driveclub gameplay

It doesn't look that beautiful tbh. I don't see a large difference compared to last gen's Gran Turismo 5/6. Also it's 30fps, which is unacceptable for a racer.

Genuine question here.

What is it about this game that people think is omg?

Seriously, it look like NFS gameplay but without the cops and damage. The phyysics look really basic to. Even for an arcade racer.

Also some previews are saying Forza 5 is technically more impressive ( Specifically IGN with double the framerate ) .

So I just want to understand why this game is getting hyped? I dont quite understand.

Diclaimer - This is not a troll comment. But a genuine question. Thanks.

this looks incredible, i like the quick dig IGN made that the nod goes to forza when it clearly doesnt. even taking into consideration on sim 60fps frame rate, DC looks more impressive

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

1) Well, that individual admitted it was a mental comparison from a game that is out, to a game that doesn't launch until Oct 7th.  Not exactly an unbiased opinion, really.   Sure, that's an easy copout, but come on, clearly IGN hasn't had their hands on the actual game since he can only do a 'mental comparison'.  Journalism like that is just as much of a copout.

2) It's being hyped for a couple reasons:

a) Only racer exclusive for the PS4 currently announced

b) It's Sony and Evolutions jobs to hype games

c) For me, I'm a tad disappointed it won't have traditional tracks, but I'm rather excited to see the 'best driving roads' out there.  Which is why I suggested they add Ceausescu's Folly (Transfagarasan Highway in Romania), as a driveable road, as what you saw of it in Top Gear was a pretty stunning rdriving experience.

It's not a sim, it's not arcadey, but falls in between.  I think for some this will be a great experience for them.  For those who enjoy the Gran Turismo+ sim racers of the world, it might not be robust enough.  Doesn't mean there isn't room out there for both to exist, however.

Thanks for answering. I guess I see your points. I think some may be disappointed though. I get the impression some think this will hit PGR, Horizon or Hot Pursuit scores for reviews. When I think it looks around a 60 meta?

Anyway. Hope it plays better than the videos show for you wen yu get it. Maybe something we arent being shown. Would be cool if they can up the sense of speed though. Feels a little slow curently.

I think there are plenty of areas they could improve (It's not a perfect game, by any means, but I do think it has value), but I also was kind of surprised that Evolution was going in an entirely new direction for themselves.  So, I'm willing to give them a bit of leniency while they work on their project.  So maybe that's not being as finnicky as I should be...then again, and this may sound strange, but I absolutely love the vistas.  I love driving, just straight up driving down a road and seeing the views et al.  So in that vein, I'm a bad person for Driveclub, because I personally could care less about the social/online competitive aspect (then again, I could really care less about the social aspect of the PS4/One...so there's that as well).

For me though, I could play Driveclub for hours, just to see roads and landscapes that I probably won't get to see in my lifetime (or, if I do, it'll be very few and far between).  I find that part particularly intriguing, and why I'd love to see Ceausescu's Folly in there, because the odds of me having a super car, to drive down some highway in Romania are pretty low.  Hehe.  It's an escape for me, and yeah, I'd love to 'escape' by just going on a Grand Tour of Europe, Asia etc...

Best looking racing game, hands down.
And arcadey fun to boot, instead of a boring sim. Looking forward to it.

MS's bribes showing up at IGN

"Drive club is fast, fun, and is the BEST LOOKING bext genr acer BY FAR".

Funny how you cling to a xbox fanboy at IGN's comment off his memory. The game is getter praised as fast, fun, with great social features, the previews are all there for you to read. This game will be easily 85+ meta, every preview is glowing,.
