From what it sounds like to me, this is a $30 million loss for this quarter. andGTA5 profits have nothing to do with this.  So they've still made over two billion in profits.

..........no, just no.

So explain to me then how a completely different quarter losing $30 million means they lost $2.03 billion?

They never made $2 billion profit that was sales.

This quarter there revenue was less than $195 million there costs of running Take Two (and future game development) cost $226 million therefore a $30 million loss.

Take Two made a loss of $62 million in the quarter ending 30th June 2013

Take Two made a loss of $124 million in the quarter ending 30th september 2013

They then made a profit of $578 million in the quarter ending the 31st December 2013

The profit from GTAV merely replace all that had been lost over the previous 6 months as well as future investments.

Sorry, got confused. I think you're right, but they did bleed very fast, look at that timeline.

I also edited what I said that you just quoted.  I copied someone else stating two billion.  They probably only made $800 million as Take Two didn't make $60 per game sold.

Full results are in the link below. They made 361 million profit from sales of 2.35 billion. Good, but people keep confusing the amount a game makes in retail (1 billion a day) with profit Rockstar T2 makes: remeber: retail takes cut, manufacturing and transportation costs money, etc. etc. Plus GTAV had a marketing and dev budget of 263 million. So a great, GREAT hit, but the take home money is far less than people think. See for yourself:

30m x $20 per game is $600 million.  With the digital sales added ontop of that, another 500k maybe?  That's why I said they probably made around $800 million.   I posted that it wasn't the $2.03b and I was just using what someone else stated, clearly admitting a mistake I made in a prior post and people want to use that instead of when I corrected myself.  In the very same post as well.
