I disagree. Say you have a super realistic, high budget title about watching paint dry. Is that a better game then say Pokemon Blue/Red?

For something like Wii Sports, being a type of game which changed the way video games were developed since is a merit. You know Wii Sports is an amazing games when numerous clones released afterwards to bask in its reflected success, and when the direction of gaming has changed forever because of it (e.g. Kinect).

NintendoLand never changed the way people played games. It's a party game yes, but nothing special. Just like how Mario Party 9 might be the best Mario Party since MP2, it doesn't matter it didn't change the formula or how people play party games.

Nope, only the games themselves matters! It's that simple!
At this point I'd only be repeating myself explaining why your fail reviewer logic is, well, fail! So I'll take my leave and continue to enjoy games for what they are, not outside factors that have nothing to do with em! ^_^

A well made game based off a generic or bad idea doesn't mean it's a good game.

A well made game which changes the way people play games because of the impact it makes, that's pretty much the definition of a great game. Pretty much every good game ever made (or good series) falls into this category.

Wii Sports might lack content, but it's a much better game then NintendoLand. Also what is fail-logic? Is this a term you invented? I've never heard it before, and how exactly is Wii Sports being a good game at all related to fail?
