I don't think it will make people think twice about the WiiU's power :P It looks good because of Nintendo artistic skill, graphically speaking it's pretty simplistic (the visuals themselves could be achieved on a PS3/360, though it's performance obviously wouldn't be as good as on the WiiU).

I do think Nintendo should invest in some better AA methods. Their art style would benefit a lot from smoother edges. Their current method worked okay-ish for SM3DW, but it's flaws become a lot more apparent with faster paced games like MK8.

that's like saying wii could run any ps360 game. ps360 would implode AND explode before rendering a third of mario kart 8.

Says the guy who said FF15 would run easily on the WiiU :P. I was pretty clear after the statement you bolded that the PS3 and 360 wouldn't achieve the same performance, but that the visuals themselves were nothing not achievable on them. 30fps instead of 60fps would be pretty doable. There are no demanding textures, the lighting is baked, the polygon count is mid ranged, the effects are simple cartoon renderings and it's appears to be using the same basic edge detection AA of SM3DW. None of that makes it demanding at all, it's all current gen tech.

It's still a great looking game, but that can almost entirely be credited to Nintendo's artistic skill. Graphically the WiiU is capable of plenty more, as very little of what is being shown here is technically significant.

In the simplest terms, it's a 7th gen game running at 8th gen performance levels.

Uhm, so what!? Sales have nothing to do with whether or not one gets excited for a game, only the actual game itself!

I'd usually say this is a sales site and bla bla but I agree with you, for now. Wether it sells hot or not this game will make me happy to have bought a WiiU. And will help get rid of the buyers remorse I had been feeling up till this point. This and the rest of the 2014 lineup is long overdue and certainly welcome.

MK8 has restored my faith in Nintendos HD development and Im looking forward to what they will produce on the system. Yes there will be droughts and some days I will want blood but I have a PC for multiplats and can deal with it. I dont believe in secret sauce powerups, I do believe its fundamentally weak tech but their art is more than capable of producing visually pleasing games.

Im not a shareholder and I know Nintendo isnt going to go broke anytime soon. Even if the U fails to top 15 or 20 million units sold games like this will make it worth it to me as a consumer. Let the CEOs hang on for dear life, not me XD

Tbh, I have absolutely no clue as to how much it will sell.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

You see problem with Nintendo console is that you need PC for your complete gaming needs because it lacks Multiplatforms so you have to switch to/from two machines. But, PS4 and Xbone doesn't require PC mostly for many gamers to their gaming needs because they have mostly every multiplatform. So, Nintendo console is good only for their games but not for complete gaming needs to many gamers so its not a must console for most whcich is why the sales are not doing good and its good only for casuals/kids/nintendo fans.

GAMING is not about spending hours to pass/waste our time just for fun,

its a Feeling/Experience about a VIRTUAL WORLD we can never be in real, and realizing some of our dreams (also creating new ones).

So, Feel Emotions, Experience Adventure/Action, Challenge Game, Solve puzzles and Have fun.

PlayStation is about all-round "New experiences" using new IP's to provide great diversity for everyone.

Xbox is always about Online and Shooting.

Nintendo is always about Fun games and milking IP's.

bold: because it can, duh.

bold2: The visuals from MK8 are far from anything ps360 could dream to achieve. huge detailed scenarios, high poly count and texture resolution. I supose a very downgraded and optimized version at 540p and 30fps would run on ps360. But as it is, no way they'd run.

PLEASE SELL MARIO KART AND Shut EVERYBODY THE HELL UP

I don't believe mario kart wii u is technically impressive especially if it really is confirmed to be 720p but I do know the game looks absolutely fantastic and should be able to sell wii u consoles this christmas. I enjoyed mario kart on wii which is totally confirmed to be running on very weak hardware yet it still looked great to me and I loved it and the same is true here I'm sure.

Many a ps3 or 360 fanboys coul point out about their exclusive games and say this isn't possible on wii u and its difficult to argue the point when there is no directly equivilant version on another format.

Exclusive games generally make better use of the hardware as they are developed from the ground up for that hardware.

However to make fair comparisons you have to use multiformat games obviously.

I think when you look how good the original wii graphics are for mario kart despite the very weak 12 gflops gpu, limited memory and slow processor its not hard to understand cartoon graphics do not require much power.

Second guessing...well, that's quite a stretch right there. MK8 looks fantastic (and is a must buy in my book), but sorry, that has nothing to do with how much juice WiiU has, but rather with remarkable art style.

I disagree, it can achieved very well in 7th Gen but your point of 540p and 30FPs too much. Look at the Sony Racing transformed http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-sonic-all-star-racing-transformed-face-off and you can see PS3/Xbox 360 is very close to Wii U.  So, its possible for PS3 to achive easliy considering the Last of US visuals and its optimizations for PS3 just like MK8 has for Wii U right now. If Wii U could have achieved better in Sony racing transformed compard to PS3/Xbox360 in big margin then i would have agreed that its not possibe for PS3/Xbox360 this kind of visuals but it did not perform any better than 7th gen for the same kind of racing game like MK8.

100% true, best Nintendo can do is ride it out and releae enough games to warrant it being a secondary console. Theres no way in hell I could survive with just a U. And ownining a PC also makes it very difficult for me to purchase an X1 or PS4, their libraries are 90% identical. Its good to have options anyway, dont like PC? Get an X1 or PS4. Ive accepted that as fact and moved on. I wish others would as well.

OMG Zero. Please stop. FFXV cannot run easily on Wii U. Just accept.
