Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The Gamecube HD remake.

Wii U is not doing too great at present, casuals are lukewarm to it and the Sony/ Microsoft crowd wont touch it with a barge pole. That leaves it to become a Nintendo box, which is fine by me, and one of the things that gets us Nintendo fans going is a bit of nostalgia.

Now we have had vitual consoles etc with NES, SNES and N64 gems well represented, but Nintendo seem to be sitting on its classic Gamecube IPs. One of the few success stories on Wii U has been the Wind waker remake, a Gamecube classic that only took 6 months to develop and has passed 1 million in sales and helped to move a few systems as well. Its easy money to Nintendo and its time to start rolling out the Gamecube classics in glorious HD, a move in which would help them to start gaining some profits.

Would you be happy to see a Gamecube HD selects range, and would you pay to play them again?, what would be the top of your list? Mine would have to be Super Mario sunshine, those tropical themes would look gorgeous.

Metroid Prime without a contest... The game deserves praise and people want Metroid on the wiiU so why not give them a remake while working on a new one?

And eternal darkness cause I need more shat in my pants

I would rather new games on the Wii U from nintendo rather HD gamecube remakes. However, I wouldn't mind a remake or two to fill the droughts.

metroid Prime HD and eternal darkness hd would be awesome

Yep, if third parties dont want to play why not roll out the classic Gamecube games to help fill the gaps. If the Wii U isnt going to sell by the bucketload, cater to the fanbase. My money is ready and waiting Nintendo.

I doubt they'll remake Metroid Prime, since the trylogy was released on the Wii not long ago.
I'd love Mario Sunshine HD, or some kind of HD collections, like Zelda, F zero, StarFox, or the Ultimate SNES/N64 HD collection!

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

It's an excellent way to prime customers for a new title.

They sort have done it with Zelda. "Hey we're working on a new Zelda, here's an HD remake of Wind Waker to keep you occupied".

I'd like for them to surprise us.

"Hey here's Metroid Prime Trilogy HD! Expect more details on Metroid Prime U to soon follow"
"Hey here's Eternal Darkness HD! BTW We're greenlighting Shadows of the Eternals!"L

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Mario Kart Double Dash HD please.

It's hard to say. On the one hand, they're a cheap way to make money and fill the gap, and I certainly want to play these games in HD. (Super Mario Sunshine is a great candidate, and my prediction for the next one.) But on the other hand, these "remakes" are a great way to bring the less-appreciated GCN classics to a new audience, but that audience is even smaller than the GCN's was. If the Wii U were doing well, it would make more sense, but now it almost seems kind of silly.

Wii U Virtual Console is sorely lacking.

A few NES games people care about, mixed in with shit.
Fewer SNES games people care about, mixed in with shit.
No N64 games.
No GameCube games.
No Wii games.

One of the reasons the Wii U is floundering. Give us the old games people actually care about, reasonably priced, in widescreen.

NES - 99¢
SNES - $1.99
N64 - $4.99
GameCube - $9.99
Wii - $24.99

Set these prices, and other companies will follow suite to stay competitive.
