I did this for the PS4 so now it's time to do it for the Vita...
1. Portability
It's a handheld console... this is obvious surely, but it still deserves to be said. It's a portable games system that can deliver gaming on par with consoles. That's something truly special. This is the only portable system I feel have ever actually achieved that.
2. The Apps
You can watch YouTube, go on Facebook, browse the internet (it's actually got a decent browser on it), and if you're not in Europe you can watch Netflix on it. The fact that I miss out on Netflix on my OLED screen genuinely pisses me off as it's by far the nicest way to watch Netflix outside of the house (though you would need the 3G model and a data plan, which I have). Still, it's my go to YouTube player and that's worthwhile.
3. That Screen
Wow, just wow... it's gorgeous. Go ahead, compare Rayman Origins on both the 3DS and the Vita (Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed is a prime example of this too). There's no competition. I have it for 3DS, my friend has it for Vita, and the Vita version is vibrant, colourful, smooth and responsive in ways the 3DS can only dream. The only reason I have the 3DS version is that I got it before I got a Vita. Any game released cross-platform on handhelds will look significantly better on Vita and they will be a joy to play.
4. Playstation Network
How many people love their own PSOne games and have them on a shelf, but never actually play them because for some reason you just can't bring yourself to play them. I know I'm like that. PSOne and even some PS2 games just don't look good on high end TVs any more. We've been spoiled by the HD craze. On Vita though, the smaller screen and quality of that screen, makes the games very playable. I've already played through a few and Final Fantasy 6-9, Metal Gear Solid, Grandia, Symphony Of The Night, Silent Hill, and Vagrant Story are but a few of the games that feel fresh and playable again.
5. The Exclusives
As always the biggest reason for a system are the exclusives and the Vita has a few good ones like Gravity Rush and Unit 13, but whilst not true exlusive it's the PS2 era re-releases like the Ratchet & Clank Trilogy, Persona 4 Golden, Ninja Gaiden, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, and the upcomming Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Collection that really shine on Vita. It's like having a "best of playstation" collection that's portable.
So those are my 5 Reasons To Buy A PSVita. Hopefully it made for an interesting read and will spark some discussion. I'm actually really loving my Vita at the moment so this one was fun to write. Any comments, disagreements, points you feel I missed... great, let's discuss.
