Forums - Nintendo Discussion - An Unbiased Review: Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (Video Review)

I haven't played much dkc snes but tropical freeze is lots better than returns imo. More secrets and rewarding sentiments. More style and variety. More life more fun!

Would you have given the game a higher score, if it had a hard mode? I ask because you seem to desire challenge a lot.

I was fine with the challenge in later worlds.  The problems in TF has little to do with the challenge compared to that being my main complaint in NSMBU.  DKC is actually a great game but it is on the short side and has little variaty in a franchise that has a lot of variaty.  And even though it is short it does have a good amount of replayability thanks to collectables and time attacks. Even then the main worlds are far too short.  Once i beat the final boss i was thinking to myself "That was it?"  Because it felt like it could have went further.

Not biased, merely ignores all other developments in this genre over the last 7 years. It doesn't look as good as LBP, nor as progressive as the plethora of great indie platformers eg. Braid, Limbo etc.

Lbp is lifeless garbage.

LBP is good but is too floaty to be considered the best platformer.  There is a few indies that are superb like SuperMeatBoy and BattleBlockTheater though.  Even then DKC and Rayman are still at the top of the pack in my opinion.
