You are confusing fans with fanboys.

I was an xbox fan. I was a xbox360 fan. I am now a PS4 fan.

Fanboys defend a company no matter what stupid policies and mistakes they make. There are good examples of this all over this site.

i'd say microsoft saw the audiance nintendo was able to reach with gimmicky stuff like the wii mote and software like wii fit and from there on it was: "fuck core gamers, there're too niche for us." and so kinect was born and the xboxone became what it is now.
