Forums - Gaming Discussion - Bayoneta Wii U-PS3

Those screenshots are so compressed and the resolution in both is much lower than in the actual games, how is that one picture supposed to prove anything? Not to mention that it doesn't give anyone any idea of what the framerate of either game is or what they look like outside of these two scenes that were handpicked by you to support your argument. I mean, come on, there's only two enemies on the screen in that Bayonetta 1 screenshot, surely you could have picked one of the more impressive scenes, just like Nintendo likely handpicked some of the more impressive scenes for that Bayonetta 2 trailer.

Multiplats may not have showcased a big difference all the time, but GCN/Xbox exclusives like Halo, Rogue Squadron, Conker, and Riddick went noticeably beyond anything the PS2 was ever able to produce.

And the X gameplay video isn't really a visual downgrade, its just that where prior footage showed off sweeping vistas, the camera angles in the new footage never give us a good look at the background. If the player were to take off in his mech and fly around from on high, I bet it'd look just as good.

Worse ground textures and less foliage on the ground.

Looks to me like a higher camera angle that merely gives this appearance; when its lower the grass obscures the ground and looks denser.

All that shows is that Bayonetta 2 looks better than Bayonetta 1 :P Cut it down to 720p instead of 1080p and Bayonetta 2 would likely look pretty much the same on the PS3 now. The 1st game is over 4 years old (not to mention a shitty port).

Even the superior 360 version of Bayonetta 1 falls short of Bayonetta 2 graphically. The Wii U game has bigger scale, a cleaner image, no screen tearing from any reports I've read, better particles and effects...

A 2009 game compared to a 2014 game, good comparison.

best graphics of 2014 confirmed... for wii u?

No; Mario Kart 8, Art of Balance, and probably FAST Racing Neo will look better I'd say.

Mario kart looks pretty phenomenal....

Everyone knows the 360 version ran a shit ton better :P Hence i called the PS3 version a shitty port. Either way I have little doubt both the PS3 and 360 could run Bayonetta 2 stably at 720p (like the 360 did the first). In the over 4 years since the original released there have been plenty of games i'd consider more technically demanding. Bayonetta 2 does have huge amounts of action, but the game itself has relatively mid-tier visuals (except for the AA which is just plain awful at times).

Neither could run it at 1080p like the WiiU, but 720p sure.

The reason for this comparison was two fold:

#1 The PS3 was the most powerful console last gen and #2 everyone says that the Wii U is barely more powerful than the PS3.

So they're making an example of how the Wii U can "blow the PS3 out of the water" when comparing two similar games. Problem being: the PS3 version of Bayonetta was a shitty, muddy looking port made by a completely different studio.

People can't talk about the 360 version (i.e. definitive version by a landslide) in this comparison because the 360, on paper, was weaker than the PS3.

Let's not talk about how Arkham City/Origins, ME3, Splinter Cell Blacklist, etc......games that are on an even playing field between the PS3 and WiiU (not comparing a port of a game to a sequel (which 9 times out of 10 look way better than the original) of said game, made by the original studio) have their best versions on the PS3. Even when they rebooted Goldeneye specifically for the Wii, and then made 007 Legends, which is built around that same Wii engine.....the PS3 version is better than the WiiU version (even though it's really moot since that game was terrible, period).

This should be in the OP. Well said ......

Game looks great. Big improvement for sure.
