One thing some of us take for granted is the size and stability of our economy means prices do not fluctuate nearly as much. I cannot imagine a console going up in price after launch. Seems like buying a console in Argentina is more akin to play the market. Have to spend $900 on a console because it could be $1150 next month. Least you have it for when games do come you want.

Augen don't you see? (pun intended xD) Since when do console prices have anything to do with stability of economies?

Its just arbitrary pricing. I mean since when is 50.000 yen = $500 = 500€?.
In 2008 1€ was worth $1.60 then came the crisis and gone was the stability and 2010 1€ was only worth $1.3 but did Europeans  got their games 19% cheaper in 2008? nope. They also did not have to pay more in 2010

in 2008 Europeans had to pay 42,84% more than americans even if you add 20% VAT to the US price its a HUGE difference.

Its  just stupid companies coming up with stupid pricing because they know people will most likely buy shit anyways. When in mainland Europe i keep buying my games from the UK because mainland Europe has shit prices.  And latin america and australia have even shittier prices.

At our latin american friends what about importing? Wont it work becaue of huge import/customs fees?

Wait a month. Buy Killzone and some multiplats until InFamous comes out. You'll be fine.

A stable economy goes along with 2-5% inflationary rates making pricing in general on products fairly predictable.  If inflationary rates suddenly became 20% for years then prices on goods including consoles would increase.  Also, if taxes suddenly jumped on a particular good or service it makes a huge difference in cost.

Price points are selected for various reasons; with historical pricing, market size, demand, manufacturing and transport costs and taxation all coming into play.   It is never going to be perfectly equal or fair. I was stating that in the US we are a bit spoiled on going "that game is $60 MSRP, I can reasonably assume that is the most it will be and will likely be $20-$40 in six to twelve months in most cases".

AC4 on PS4 was my favorite game of 2013. It is so much better than any other AC game it almost seems like a diff series. 80 hours and not bored yet.

Do I need to have played the other assassin's Creed games to understand this one? I never have and don't feel like playing catch up

Same with the  old infamous series never played.

No on both of those series.  They don't really build on eachother, you can play any individual entries, and like I said, AC4 is so much better I would not bother with any of the rest.

I'm not sure I get the logic here... nothing interrests you in the PS4 and the price went up yet you bought one? You mean to tell me that it'll always go up like it'll be 12 000p when finally some games will interrest you? Wouldn't it be cheaper to just import one?

Anyway cool if you're satisfied but to me it sounds like you were being caught in the hype hahaha no biggie enjoy it. I plan on getting one when it's cheaper maybe two years from now and when better games are released.

Yeah, it's what's been happening here for years. PS4 was 6499 when it was first released here, then, a few weeks ago when inflation skyrocketed like 20% in like 3 days it went up to 8999 and they took it down to 6999 thanks to a government ruling (I don't know if I'm using the right words here) in which they said they should take them down to what they were before inflation skyrocketed +~7% of the price and another +~7% sometime during this month. I bought it before the second ~7% increase of price happens and before shit hits the fan again.
Prices have been going up for years and it hasn't stopped. When I first bought my PS3 at the end of 2009, a brand new game would cost 280 - 300 Pesos here... nowadays they're 800 - 1000 pesos depending on where you buy.
There are a lot of restrictions for importing and it could get stuck in customs or worse... stolen if you're very unlucky, lol.

I said no games FOR ME yet... meaning there's nothing I like YET. I named the games I want/I'm interested in already :P. I've had a PC way before getting the PS4 and I would've already played Warframe there if I actually was interested enough in it :P. The same goes for Battlefield 4, CoD: Ghosts and Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flags but as I've said, I'm not interested in Assassin's creed and I don't like FPS games. Not interested in Need for Speed, sport games (NBA 2k14, Madden 25) or Knack. And I already have Resogun (and also Contrast).

Yeah, shit hit the fan here a few weeks ago and the price of Dollar went from 1USD = 6, something Pesos to 1USD = 8,01 Pesos in the span of 2 or 3 days. The prices for almost everything (specially electronics) went up like 20 to 30% more than they were before that happened. Now the Dollar is down to 1USD = 7,82 Pesos but prices are still higher...
We've had inflation rates of over 20% per year for many years. What happened in those 2-3 days was crazy, we got a huge part of the inflation of a whole year in just those days, lol. Things seem to be calming down... at least for now. We never know when/if that will happen again.

A banner stolen from some site xD
